I’ve been sitting here wracking my tiny brain for the details on that one and what you say sounds familiar. I remember that I was expecting to pay $100 and was just waiting for someone to throw the money at. But does that mean that we still get it for $70 off as a backer (and would be forfeiting it)? Or is that just gone in the breeze?
Gone, it was a Kickstarter add-on, like paying $60 for the 10 meter cable (which now sells for $100)
Something that is annoying is that 5K+ owners are further limited by Pimax discounting it’s price by $100 at this time, while we might be trying to sell them to offset some of the upgrade cost. It kind of diminishes the value of the 8-5K+ $100 coupon. This further cripples the value of Plan C

So there is no discount for backers in reality, we give up stretch goals for less than their value and end up worse off than a newcomer.
Base stations are still ‘soon’, 2 years later, you get to pay $100 more than retail for Index controllers and pay shipping again when you already paid shipping and if, like me, you’re not falling for this hoax then stretch goals still aren’t coming for ages.
Go pimax day 2…yay (insert more sarcasm than you can imagine here).

How long will these plans last?
I backed 8k +controllers and base stations, and I never downgraded to the 5k+.
I received the 8k eventually, and like the previous commenter I used it once or twice to check the install and functionality. Since then, I’ve been waiting for controllers and base stations because I loathe driving games, flight sims and platformers. No, I haven’t tried porn.
Does this mean I can pay $179 and get the controllers and base stations and be up and running before the end of the year?
What’s the compelling argument to to upgrade from 8k to the 8k+ or 8K-X if it will cost me this much more?:
($550 to $800) + $479 = $1030 to $1280 (Plan B + E)
($850 to $1100) + $179 = $930 to $1180 (Plan D + F)
And probably another $1000 to upgrade my computer.
Alternate plan: $179 for the controllers and b.s. that I thought I already paid for
…and I forgo the awesomeness of the new HMDs that will probably ship long after I’ve already purchased a new commercial headset because I got tired of years of waiting.

I am thinking that the best choice for me is finding someone to buy the headset and I get some profit and keep money to buy later on campaign date or other offer.

Found the video quote on Pimax Day 2 video on Sweviver Youtube channel with Martin (Sweviver) talking alongside Kevin (Pimax USA). I don’t understand fully when Kevin says at 48:20 elapsed…

This seems to imply you still get eye tracking discount, even if you forfeit some of your stretch goals?
Plans A, B, C, D, have the option to ditch the stretch goals and keep the eye tracking discount.

@Matthew.Xu I had an 8k kickstarter pledge with extra money added for controllers. I want to opt out of the controllers and stretch goals (but keep the eye tracking discount). Should I do plan D or B? Plan D is a very bad deal for me. I’d be losing money on the stretch goals, and wouldn’t even really be getting a discount at all. Plan B seems to be for full bundle backers only though. Which should I choose?
Yeah, I don’t quite understand how or what kind of controllers I should be getting. Why do I have to pay $179 to get Index controllers. Is that better than Sword? If it’s not better, then why is it more expensive?
Think I might wait for the NEW GPU to play with the Pimax 8K X.

Where is the plan to upgrade the Pimax controllers to Index controllers and use the $100 credit?
Bumping this question again since I haven’t seen an answer to it yet. I had a 8K full package that I opted to change to the 5K+ and $100 coupon. Now I just want the controllers and basestations so I can wash my hands off dealing with Pimax.
At this point I should have 3 coupons in hand, $100 from the 8k->5k+, $100 from the eye tracking and $100 from the wireless module. Can I just apply all 3 coupons to the controller/basestation trade in plan? I don’t care if I lose value on this, I just don’t want to pay any more money to get a fully funcitonal set.

Even then, weren’t you supposed to remit the sales taxes voluntarily?
The coupon use is part of plan A and C and that is the only option for the headset coupon. The other coupons can only be used for the item they are attached to. i.e. $100 on Eye Tracking Module and $100 on Wireless can only be applied to those.
