VoodooDE KDMAS Review (Now Working, Use Adapter Cable to Left Connector)

Thanks. I like the idea of extending some material around the speakers. I found this worked surprisingly well to increase volume with the SMAS, without degrading frequency response, and without much distortion.

If you don’t mind, if I use this idea, I will give you credit and DrWilken credit.

Pimax likes to add foam to adjust positions whether it be eye relieve or ear distance.

There is a possible fix depending on how far from the ear. With the Sponge cups put a spacer ring inside the cup so when it clips on it clips on further away.

However yes this is a design flaw with not having an adjustment towards the ear.

That blur he speaks of is true if I use the thick foam from VRMust. If my eyes are too far from the lenses the entire peripheral part of both lenses become an almost opaque blurry mess you cant see through.

Problem is the one time Zimtok5 used the headset was for a few moments at Cas and Chary’s place in a youtube video. If he had the same issue I doubt he would take the time to figure it out, because no other headset is this difficult to simply put on.

KDMAS is apparently DMAS with ear cushions slapped on. No one could have thought that rigid (fixed) rods and fixed drivers’ canting would work in on-ear design, except Pimax, where, apparently, everyone has the same head.

I’m pretty sure the drivers are different though.

I meant the physical design.

I’ve modeled up the headphone cup, with a 15mm extension, which felt about right for me at least. A friend is printing it so I’ll let you know how it goes, and share the STL if it works.

@hammerhead_gal found your new slogan.

The should just sell Pimax headsets with a coupon for a 3d printer.

My 3D printer has seen no end of use since getting my 8kX.

This here is the reason I can never recommend Pimax to anyone.

This has worked pretty well, although it’s a little harder to get on your head now as you can’t flip them outwards. The fit is a little tight too, the printer plastic doesn’t have as much give as the original.

Is there a proper way to position the extension cable on the x? Or a way to hide it?

just tested my 5k+ with the new KDMAS and for me its even to much bass, i might prefer more clarity and treble but its defiantly ok for a vr headset (used koss porta pro before on a welding mask mod)

only complain is about latest version of pitool and firmware adds a crackling sound to most music/sound, gets less when audio is changed from 48kHz to 44.1kHz but does not vanish, its not the KDMAS, its also there when i use the koss porta pro i have been using since i got the 5k+

This seems true for the foam fit as well. i have a fairly standard head shape for a westerner imo and had to add a little foam at the sides for a form fit. Otherwise the gaps let in light.

me too. I hate the headphone cables dangling when not using the MAS heaphones

So… will you update your video? There’s about 10 minutes at the end where you could fit your revised opinion in!
:grinning:
Cheers… great channel- I enjoy your presentation style. You never come across as anything but honest and fair.

my be new short revisited video of a few minutes?

I would as well watch it as I enjoy your videos. Might be an idea though if it’s an updated video post a link in your original pointing to it.

Pimax needs to figure out what is going on as others have used Quest Speakers on the 8k+ without having to use a y cable on left port only.
