Do you just search Steam store for Knuckles/Index Controller driver?
Hold on, there is issue with trackers?
I have pre ordered the index controllers and bought a vive tracker to complete my full body tracking (knuckles + vive tracker + wands on foot), will this work?
Oh wow, really? I heard someone say that was a workaround before, but that it had broken since. I will be happy if that is all that is required.
I believe i got the drivers through https://steamdb.info/app/633750/ then press install. they aren’t publicly live on the store but installing through the link works fine. and they seem to work completely fine with pimax as long as you are on the new steam beta.
I mean i last used them early this month before i went to america on the 6th, so unless they broke it in the past like 2 weeks it should be fine.
I wouldnt worry too much, as Im pretty confident the Pimax devs will make sure Knuckles are working with Pimax the upcoming days/weeks “out of the box”. For now it looks like manually adding the Knuckles SteamVR drivers is the way to go. I havent recieved my Knuckles yet, so I cant test anything as of now…
Nope, Valve replaced the drivers with an “EmptySteamDepot”, removing all old versions from repository, making installation impossible. Also recovering an old steam backup (.csd) doesn’t work
Then looks like need a cached download.
I haven’t tried it on my pc but the link provided does sayvsomething about install when I clicked on it.
Sounds like one whom has not had the lastest update should save driver offline before going online.
Might be able to dump driver into a pimax directory.
Do you know if Knuckles driver was packed with earlier Steamvr? If so my i5 6500 r9 390 pc likely has old knuckles driver.
while I have no doubt that it is possible to make them work, Pimax self caused serious reputational damage by letting this happen and most of all by not commenting the issue and not answering the questions. Several friends of mine with little technical knowledge have identified incompatibility with Knuckles and Trackers as a serious risk factor in relying on Pimax.
I think the easiest method would simply be to have dual setup. One for steam & 1 for oculus.
Which might be what there working on. OpenXR should fix this kind aggravation making all parties play nice.
I know at times you need to dump dll files into game directories to get them working.
No, they were only visible to users who had received the knuckles, but could be installed via SteamBD or from a Steam Backup. I have an old Steam Backup, but it cannot be recovered without it being immediately overwritten by the empty version
But my question is: why do we have to talk about it as if we had to hack something and Pimax doesn’t say anything?
No different than waiting for Microsoft to fix live games.
The GamesforLive that was supposed to work didn’t for some games requiring a community hack work around.
We had similar problem in steam for a max payne title. Community sometimes has had to find fixes.
Yes pimax should at least give a direct comment on issues.
@SweViver, on what do you base your confidence?
@SweViver,@pimaxusa,
Can we have an official statement from Pimax on Index Controller and Vive tracker compatibility ?
Thanks.
They are working on this, its very important to have full compatibility for Knuckles of course!
It is a great pity that Pimax, after so many months of bad communication with their customers, has still not managed to be open and honest with such topics.
Unfortunately, I do not expect binding official information on the subject!
I’d be surprised if they didn’t. But are they thinking of doing things better this time, or will they continue hacking the standard drivers?
Thanks Martin. What about the full body tracking solution ? I mean VIC + tracker + wands ?
Thanks for the reply. Few weeks until people start receiving them
I started using the Pimax and Pitool 132 and the Vive Trackers some weeks ago and couldn’t get my trackers to pair. After a lot of searching, I found this solution, which fixed the pairing issue for me. (Now, if someone could just tell me why Natural Locomotion Beta using Feet Trackers in Skyrim tends to get my character “stuck” during combat so often, I’d be eternally grateful (kicking feet up and starting/stopping eventually breaks me loose but the enemy often kills me first. Jumping/Sneaking also doesn’t work. Oddly, without the trackers, Natural Locomotion doesn’t work at all, running off in random directions)
To pair trackers with pimax follow exactly:
- unplug the pimax Headset
- make sure your Vive Tracker-USB-Dongle is plugged in
- Start SteamVR (yes without Headset)
- pair your tracker as usual (maybe you have to click on pair controller, if tracker is not available)
- Close SteamVR
- Plugin Pimax Headset
- Start SteamVR
- Have fun
