Trackers not working with Pimax after new SteamVR Update

I recall awhile back with vive wands you could set the wands to run without a headset. May need to try that. You are binding tracker to dongle?

Right I have no idea about my situation anymore it just worked flawlessly for an hour in the afternoon. Don’t understand why I made zero changes it just decided to work.

Edit !! Still dodgy lost track 50min into trover saves the universe

Could you try using 1 lighthouse at a time and see how it goes? I dont want to blame your lighthouses here, but when it suddenly starts to loose tracking after a longer session it might be the fact one of the units are faulty. Just an idea…

Also try to disconnect some USB devices from your PC and see if it helps. The tracking (and controller position) is sent through USB to the PC. There might be some USB conflict going on…

One user found his lighthouses had gone bad. He checked a log file.

Like I said, I downgraded to using my vive again to use full body, so its not my lighthouses at all haha

It seems to definitely be a steamVR issue. Pimax needs to upgrade their software to match the new steamVR update or allow more controllers to be used at once in the Pitool software. That is the only way I can see this issue fixed. Tried everything, doesn’t work. The issue is getting the full body trackers from Vive to work with the newest SteamVR. Pimax headset works fine with the new SteamVR. It’s just only allowing 2 controllers in Pitool and SteamVR apparently refuses to recognize my Vive Trackers unless they are connected to an HTC Vive, or Valve Index even though they were working flawlessly before.

I’m not using steamVR beta branch, what happen when you try to “bind new controller” on your computer? mine just say looking for HMD and ask me to make sure my HMD is connected or wireless adapted is plugged in…it won’t let you bind the vive tracker nor any additional controllers

Does Steam still allow adding headless mode for Vive wands for example to use wands without headset?

if everyone could just post a new post on steamVR discussion board on their steam, maybe they’ll actually try to fix it, but not many of people are talking about it

Pimax really need to re-write pitool to not care about controllers except their own they are making, everything else should passthrough all telemetry from trackers and controllers directly to steamvr unchanged. This way they don’t have to worry about steamvr updating and causing this problem and them having to catch up! Otherwise those of us with trackers, motion simulators, knuckles controllers will have to sell our HMD’s and buy index and jump off the pimax bandwagon!

Another good place for this link. This should fix Valve’s non sense.

No pimax might need a pass through for steam. But it is needed to be able to have pitool grab LH controllers for their Oculus support.

This posted by @dillanski may fix things.

Why don’t they just make it so that if it’s an oculus game it doesn’t passthrough? At least that means most of us will be happy with knuckles working again and motion compensation, etc. I would wager the majority of games are either in steam for most users or they would be okay running oculus games through revive instead.

Trackers if using Dongles & not headset should sync through steam.

Valve altered how the controllers sync up as it was working before.

In an Oculus game pitool needs to have controller work through pitool to run Oculus compatability.

Valve is trying to isolate Controllers to Steam only it seems.

Pimax would need to have you resync controllers to run Oculus games & resync to steam when you choose to run a steam title. In this methode becomes very inconvienent.

So imho to fix Valve messing with controller drivers. Pimax imho needs to figure away to have controllers sync with pimax hmd but pass sync info with Controller id to steam.

It’s a mess much like when Valve broke hotas & openvr input emulator.

Maybe pimax can implement knuckle controller driver into pitool?

Some have said pitool oculus support has better performance than revive. Plus it removes a layer if steam is not needed to run Oculus titles.

Many of us preordered valve knuckles for our Pimax. They’re coming in 3 weeks and we don’t even know if Pimax is aware of this situation or working on it.
Fixing this MUST be top priority over any open source optimisation !!!

It was working prior to steam update. Posted a program that @dillanski posted that should fix it as it appears to be working on Reverb.

3 posts up.

Yes but we shouldn’t have to use a third party program. It’s good to have a temporary solution, specially devs who already have knuckles, but consumers need a native support.
Btw Pushrax said “the calibration drifts over time (consumer VR tracking isn’t perfectly stable)”.

Agreed but Valve is the one changing how it works. Likely due to not liking LH tracking being used outside of steam.

So easy solution embed controller drivers into steam’s lighthouse driver. Which goes against the principles of HiD concept.

Valve is simply once again breaking controller inputs as they did to Hotas & Openvr input emulator.

11 days left before we receive our knuckles. Any ETA for a fix?

I also have a stupid pairing issue, hopefully pimax can fix it before index shows up.

Had my knuckles for a while now, they work fine with Pimax. It’s just full body trackers won’t sync. You gotta manually download the knuckles drivers from steam pretty much and they work fine.
