Well I’m sure they thought everything was wrapped up.
But the forum never sleeps.

By the way, I still do not understand what size is the net discount for backers on 8K + and 8KX?
(They were saying something about the sweet price.)
Nothing has been properly stated anywhere, but Kevin suggested in some thread that we’d be talking about $300-350-ish in total, including the backer discount (guessing a hundred), and every possible outstanding order item you may have, that you can trade in.
I’d want the eye tracker, though, so I’ll not be able to get anywhere near down to a grand, so I, for one, will probably simply not be able to afford upgrading; Even if one could reach $1000, it’s a lot or money – for something that we know will retain a whole host of shortcomings that we are familiar with from the 8k/5k+.
Man, 'have already thrown money on pledging for Tilt Five, this month… :7
Did not find an answer to this that hit the target
If it is up to $ 350 maximum, then this is not so much in fact.( If it were a net discount for backers, then that would be more interesting.)
But if I want to get controllers and base stations from Pimax, then the net discount remains only about $ 100, it turns out.
Even on WMR headsets, discounts reached about 50%. Odyssey + can now buy $ 299 (40% less). And this is a complete set with controllers and own tracking.
Yes, the $ 100 discount looks very, very sad, unfortunately
This is more like some sort of regular little discount at any store for regular shoppers.(but not for backers)
We’ll see toward the end of next month, when they finally spill the beans – what I posted above does not feel like anywhere near solid info, even though Kevin wrote in a tone that for some incomprahensible reason was allowed to ooze of: “Come on guys, I’ve already said this a hundred times!”, when nothing had actually been said at all, but I guess if one want to try effecting change to whatever one may expect, now is the time to do it, before it becomes too late.
The problem I do see is logistics. 5k+ may or maynot have been a real replacement for the 5k (no one has seem the elusive 5k that would be sold in limited areas).
If the Kickstarter itself had been delayed a year we would likely have had 8k with full rgb panels vs the ones that a forum member mention these diagonal pixel pattern are often used in Projectors.
Now they could easily offer a trade up program selling the refurbished kickstarter units at a bit more than KS price with maybe backer paying shipping to send headset in.
The core problem is overzealous un directed communication. Any question that could not be answered should have been defered to a seperate team that was tasked with this.
Let me ask this if you looked at the panel rotating it to 45° does it appear RGB? Could it be possible this is RGB Diagonal which is of course not the same as stripe Vertical/Horizontal?
Personally I think it’s likely more on wrong personel answering questions that they were not qualified to be answering.
Panel Manufacturer may have a naming scheme that created mis info. Think McDonalds & their pattys made with vs made of.
One problem though is some still haven’t rec’d their original pledged headset & naturally they want to trade up/pay up.
Yes, that would be a good move for everyone.
I hope they still think about this decision
Comparing a Samsung Odyssey + with Pimax 8k-x feel like comparing Fiat Panda with a Lamborgini Huracan. They arer both cars, both will take you were you want to go but…
I do not compare headsets, I compare discounts.
And In general, it would be interesting if Pimax on 8K + and 8KX applied the same SDE reduction technology as Odyssey +.
It would be amazing, most likely, and would look like a reality
So many backer situations to keep track of, and work out how to solve. :7
It was discussed a year ago. While the whole diagonal vs horizontal argument seems inconclusive it was definitely agreed that its RB/G.

Which still has letters R g B. Simple truth just poor management of answering questions.
But this is truely moot & old Info. We should move on as it’s not really relevant any more. What is, is the upgrade incentives now that real Full RGB panels are available. Will it really be decent? Without being able to do a trade in?
This is what remains to be seen. Especially since we know the rgb panels physically fit by what Voodoodx was told about his partial 8k+.
Any know what the pinned banner topic was as it seems to once and while being unpinned loosing all links like pitool downloads, sdk & community forum rules.
Will it be decent given the shots i’ve seen it looks to be a good improvement over the 8k i’d say so. With them now saying we wont be able to trade in and resale prices going down I don’t see many of backers jumping on it and even fewer new customers going for it.
those pictures dont count, because they just said they were old panels…
We were discussing the 8k not the 8k+ panels.
sorry i did read it wrong…
Well, I was on the other hand hoping for a “clean exit” by changing Pimax controllers for knuckles and getting them together with v2 LHes, only to read on the forum after, that it will cost me $179 on top :(.
Besides the whole idea of “discount” seems a bit shaky, but already enough has been said on this topic - I guess just another Pimax day.
