What I can see sooner or later is an 8KX Artisan;
2x4k panels, 140 Fov, smaller panels with higher PPD and free of distortions.
You have to pay something to get something “for free”. Free, in a business language, means trade, not gift
Well the cats out of the bag, might as well ask the higher ups to let you spill the beans.
Answering a ticket, or putting lighthouses in a box and posting them isn’t a big project at all and yet too big for pimax.
Did they have customers waiting for over 2 years since laying down their cash?
Backers already paid with our time and treasure
And with my love, too. But companies use money
Well P4k users have been waiting for 3 years for a v2 that was mentioned then. As for packaging LHes & Index Controllers as we now know. Had to do with receiving product in bulk & needed time to get packaging designed & a line setup to test & assemble packages.
The good news? We know these are being prepped to ship.
But in respect to the op. Maybe let’s focus on the topic.
If you want my opinion? I think as @SweViver said this reveal was premature & should have waited til CES. As shipments would be in que for other items.
PSVR’s OLED is stripe
While I agree that they need to fulfill the promises of the Kickstarter I will say that it is not unusual for a company to have separate crews working on projects like this… Pimax are for sure a small team and I know for a fact that they are working towards fixing these issues, especially the level of communication! They are still trying to find their way in the VR industry and are making strides towards bringing on the right people who can help them to do this!
For Pimax to have pulled off what they did in just 2 years is actually quite amazing… Look at how long Oculus and HTC had their headsets in development before we saw an actual CV release… around 4 years IIRC! Sure they sold the development kits to anyone who was interested in being an early adopter and didn’t relaunch sales after each revision which I agree is kind of what I see Pimax doing here, but we should also keep in mind the fact that traditionally and before the Oculus Kickstarter, we as consumers never really got to see the inner workings of a company or product launches in the ways we are now so this is all new ground!
So I say lets all give it time and see what announcements and surprises that the CES show brings because I think that many people will be happy with what they hear and see there! []-)
Yes SweViver is off. Pentile is Samsung’s Oleds; others maybe pentile like. But there are RGB Oleds (just not a huge inventory in mobile displays)
which they have mine already.
You use TurnSignal of course?
Even if not totally accurate it is just a must have.
I use it for a few days, will review it soon.
/sorry kind of off topic
Completely agree.
To me it shows where priorities lie.
I would quite like my hand tracking, base stations, controllers, rigid strap etc… before my hmd is completely old news.
In 2 years it looks like pimax have almost created a vive wand. Is this good progress?
The rest are still unfulfilled promises with moving dates.
I guess old money loses priority to new money
Remember when pimaxusa said he had 600 and they were almost done pretending to test them and boxing them and would be sent the next week?..so yeah being prepped, coming soon etc still doesn’t mean anything.
Trawl back through the forum and see how many times that has been said and for how long.
No one is going to succeed in convincing me that making and selling new products before fulfilling old orders is a good thing to do. And no I don’t believe the hype that pimax will change…soon.
and who will buy this instead of the index?
Pimax would be crazy to put this up against the index. Even the Rift S is going to be tough. I mean, sure, it has higher FoV but that comes at the price of lower PPD (more SDE & pixel pattern). And then there’s the Pimax quality build, the pimax (lack of) support and no audio …
It might be hard to remember, that was almost a month ago!

What if artisan has aspherical lenses ?
a question mark on the year of delivery.
