Advertising one model with diagonal Fov and and another with horizontal would be really bonkers…
I am a little bit afraid, you say 8k is not for sale anymore. Have i spend my money on the wrong Horse? What is with support for the 8k? Updates and so??
Well my personal preference. Do it like Monitor view angles. Both Vertical & Horizontal - no diagonal.
Just under 110 degrees potentially visible (optically measured), at optimal eye relief (8mm), for both eyes taken together. Never could get more than 100 myself, but then; I’ve got a low prominent brow that bumps up against the lenses, and prevents me from getting close enough.
I think you’re talking about the original Vive? the Pro doesn’t have much more than 90 degrees horizontal, there’s no way you can even squeeze 100 out of it, let alone 110. It’s just not there, not even close.
What the f*ck Pimax? You haven’t even finished developing the 8K X and you’re already announcing a new headset?
We have no info on the Artisan, but the others also come in a Rugged Edition for businesses. That makes 9.
All five headsets are the same headset with quite big changes for users, but easy to manufacture for Pimax
That is unlikely I think, the four headset spec sheets at the bottom of that page all use 200 diagonal as their measurement.
I will further discuss this with the team. I do agree the upgrade offers should be extended, at least until last january, after CES and US roadshow.
I hoped it wasn’t a software limit and they were new lenses, but I don’t believe that anymore.
What if all ice cream was Apple
The 8K will of course be supported in all future versions of PiTool, it will support all accessories like hand tracking and eye tracking. And most likely there will be new firmwares for 8K, but its just not being sold anymore, as the 8K+ basically does the same thing but better.
The Artisan has been in development for quite some time, by a smaller team. Nothing that affects the 8KX or 8K+.
Well either way this is still exciting news to wake up to this morning! I think it is great that Pimax is set to offer a full range of headsets for everyone… From entry level to mega enthusiast now Pimax will have them covered! []-)
Wouldn’t it have made sense to have that smaller team work on the 8K Plus or 8K X to speed up production or to answer support tickets?
Having more hands doesn’t always speed things up. Sometimes it even causes more issues.
Like when a friend had 6 people helping him change a motor in a car.
The Artisan is likely taken from earlier R&D from making a v2 P4k combined with things like the P2:Series headsets.
Yeah, pimax like to use the “we’re a small team, we don’t have enough people to answer your ticket/build your stretch goals/post your lighthouses/design your controller” excuse. But this doesn’t affect it…it had its own team working on it.
BS is BS and pimax constantly has it on its hands…and we all see it.
Just make what you sold us 2 years ago and post us the things that have been available forever like base stations and hand tracking. Make a joke of yourselves on your own time after you fulfill the commitments of 2 years ago.
Hope it have audio and would guess 449usd.
can backers get this one for free if we trade in our stretch goals and downgrade coupon?
Since the core of the P2:Series framework is established (Shell) shrinking viewport & or installing different Displays is not a big project at all.
No different than a Crown Vic & a Marquis. Same shell with some different options.
Remember how many variants Dodge had of it’d K Cars & minivans?
