No worries. But if the Artisan supports V2 Lighthouse Tracking. It will automatically support v1.0 Lighthouses.
As Steamvr Tracking Sensors v2.0 are Backwards compatible. Only LH v2.0 is only compatible with v2.0 tracking sensors.

Thanks for the heads up
I was asking as I thought that the index was not compatible with the V1 lighthouses. Hence why I asked. Good to know that the V2 lighthouses are backwards compatible with V1 sensors.
Why does anybody listen to Linus about vr?
Either way nobody will see the difference
Well on the plus. I heard he was impressed on his 2nd viewing. Lol
Well it would be nice if they used orig standards instead of modified misnomers like itu.
CES is weeks away, just tell us how the thing tracks already. I’m willing to sacrifice tracking pinpoint accuracy for a near plug and play headset 6DOF solution. So pleassseee tell me Pimax has managed it
The V2 sensors are backwards compatible, the V2 lighthouse base stations are not. The V2 lighthouse base stations only work with devices with V2 sensors. V1 lighthouse base stations work with all devices with the V1 or V2 sensors in them.
Some people are always starting from nothing and see big ol youtube linus as the man to listen to, from all those subscribed.
You started nowhere too at some point. They’ll get the hang of it.
The CTA logo program started in September.
It does not apply to ITU-compliant products released before that time.
to get that information.
ITU Recommendations 4KUHD and 8KUHD Standards are the basis.
I have an 8K, but no 5K+ experience to compare it to. The last couple of PiTool “beta” releases have really improved the 8K visuals. In particular, the aliasing I used to see is noticeably reduced. I think they have improved the stretching algorithm or are somehow sending a better source image to the headset.
Same experience in the 5K+ as previously mentioned. It does seem like they’ve improved something related to the ugly aliasing previously seen. First place I noticed was in the SteamVR “dome” where the lines are now solid instead of fuzzy.
Oooh I got to update to latest Pitool and FW. Strap in the old ED chair HOTAS setup if clarity is even more improved office is too filled up with stuff to do roomscale currently
Noticed it a few PiTool versions back. Using HMD Quality at 1 and SteamVR SS at 100% just FYI.
Well, as you might know, I use some unusuals settings (for most people but not everyone, some others users figured it out also) with my 8k since the begining, like 1.5Pitool with Steam Auto.
But now yes, I no longer have to use 1.5 to get good clarity on my 8k, so it is less GPU demanding.
When I fired up the 5k+ still prefer the 8k. Though the 8k+ will have much better SDE than the 8k which would be much better.
@VoodooDE remarked on what was later known as an earlier sample of the 8k+. That in his opinion not much of an upgrade to the 8k.
In our case the 8kX would be a better upgrade for visual. Where as the 8k+ would be a much larger upgrade to 5k+ owners imho. Less blocky looking & like the 8k less distortion due to smaller pixels. Likely reduces distortion even better than 8k due to RGB.
I played ED for 5+ hours last night. It’s looking better than ever. Also, I recently bumped < GalaxyBackground > < High > < TextureSize > to 5120 in ED’s GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml . That really improves the system skybox. 6144 and 8192 look even better, but add too much time to the system calculation imo. (~2 and 9 sec per jump, which is too much for a long expedition.)
Do you have a 2080Ti? My oc’ed 2080 can barely do 1 and 50% (60-70 fps) unless I turn on FFR (I leave smart smoothing off).
That’s what I think as well. I’m sure the 8K+ would be an improvement, but for that price, spending a few $100 to get an 8KX seems like the right thing to do (for me).
Man i’m really starting to wonder if any of this is worth it. I like my 5k+ and its fine. Im spending so much money on the 8kx I hope the bump in res is worth it.
That money could be going to much better things.
What’s the return policy anyway?
Most legit companies have a 14 day return policy ?
And I like my 8K a lot. For me, the main issues are SDE and small text readability. The 8KX should be a major improvement for both.
This would be a question for @Matthew.Xu @Konger or @PimaxUSA.
Now once they have it on Amazon the question is easier due to Amazon policies. But you pay for Amazon’s benefits.
Enthusiasts & hardware are often a difficult decision. As an upgrade is always just around the corner. The 8kX is pricy. But maybe less so vs an RTX 2080ti which maybe replaced in q3 or q4 of 2020.
