Yeah but let 's look at this way 4k tv is not really 4k. But i have seen an was it lg monitor at something like 3440×1440 21:9? Be called 4k.
Aspect ratios play a part. Linus Tech tips criticized pimax for the 8k naming. Then did a 12k demo with 3 of the 9 projectors needed to do 12k by 16:9. Where as he had 12 by 48:9.
Someone on my channel who own a 8k+ said that the clarity is about the same as the 5k+ but with better sde of course.
How surprising this is, what do you think about this?
Didn’t know the 8K+ was available yet for end users, and yes why this would be so surprising? the maximum effective resolution is the same but with better and smaller panels. The 8K+ will be a notch better then 5K+ in term of resolution. Although because of the better SDE the overall result will better
Yes, right, same signal, I realized this after typing my message actually.
But according what he says, he is not able to read something better on 8k+ than on 5k+, which is normal but…for some reasons…it’s just like I am not sure it worth the upgrade.
Some samples and pre-release units have been sent out to partners, some testers and also a few 8K+ RE to companies . Its not the final units though, which will start to ship any time now, or at latest in early January.
Yep. All 8K+ will have the new RE housing, but the headsets called Ruggedized have not only RE housing, but also more heavy materials, metal hinges, buttons, more waterproof with coated PCB etc. A solution for VR arcades etc…
it’s depends of your definition of a notch would say 10%-15% not worth the upgrade from the 8k/5K+ but a good first large FOV headset if your willing to compromise in other aspects ( colors angular, distortions)
I have a 8k I was thinking about the 5k+ owner actually, coming from an 8k I know it worth it.
But according some pictures Martin @SweViver posted while ago with differents macros, I wasnt expecting this.
The 8k+ macros looks so incredible and the 8k so awful.
Not doubt in my mine that 5K+/8K users must go for the 8K-X, if Pimax get things right… with the integrated scaler it’s a easy choice although from a price point isn’t.
It all comes down to what you value the most. More clarity, readability and sharpness - or 300 bucks saved to spend on games (which could be quite many games after all).
There seems to be some confusion in the information.
3840x2160 is 4K UHD by International Telecommunication Union(ITU)
4096x2160 is DCI 4K by Digital Cinema Initiatives(DCI)
3440x1440 is Ultra-wide Quad HD(UWQHD) not called 4K
4K UHD & 8K UHD (7680x4320).
It’s the right standard set by a specialized agency of the United Nations.
8K UHD TV is sold by Sharp and LG.
TV’s 4K and 8K displays are often correct according to ITU recommendations.
At least in Japan…
There is no established standard for VR headsets.
The naming of Pimax 8K and 5K
I personally think it’s good to have the features of the product.
@SweViver - Is there any barrel distortion with the Pimax Artisan? I know that some people have complained about this in Pimax headsets with the high FOV.
Also since I did not get an answer. Will the Pimax Artisan come with Controllers? Just curious.
