So, do you think you are the first person that’s ever been taken advantage of by some company? It’s happened to us all. Not fun. I feel your pain. I want this headset to be everything they said it would be too. But having been in the engineering and manufacturing business for a lot of years, I can say this stuff is hard to get right. I guess I’m just accustomed to the fact that these things take a lot of resources, time and mistakes. I got nothing against you or anyone else here personally. I’m just willing to give Pimax the benefit of ta doubt because no other company is even close to offering what they are. It’s flawed, I know, but still better than what we now have. Lets just agree to disagree.

Man if every customer was like you they could just call it the Pimax 32k, ask $2000, put a 720p panel in it, sell it and have happy reviews only. Anyway, yeah, let’s agree to disagree. Assuming that the claims for native 4k support have been resolved by pimax, what else remains?

We plan to add a new tier, the 8K X, standard price + $200. Please make sure you own a PC with at least 1080ti, equivalent or above, CPU i7, and 16GB memory before you get this reward.
We understand you want to get 8K earlier. We can either send you 8K first, then you replace 8K for 8K X, or we can send you the 8K X version directly on Q2.
As the Kickstarter backers are our core users, we will completely cover the shipping cost for the replacement.

Daughter boards not the mainboard. If designed to make easy it can be. The 4k like oculus/vive & most are not designed with end user swapping internals.
As for programming its okay to admit its too big a job. A flasher tool ist no where as complicated. But yes you did a good job on it. Same as folks who program custom bioses for vid cards & the like.

I don’t understand why pimax, which deals with cutting-edge technology, accepts the 4k native until it takes this criticism. There will be more and more requirements and you will only get scratches on your product image.
In the end, we heard the word “fake”. haha
Now, there will be a constant need for wireless, and why not a single dp cable…

Another Question: Can’t we just lower the resolution software sided for the X? So we would run the 8k X in 1440p until the pc is capable of the 2*4k at 90hz/what ever? Wouldn’t that be like the “Standard/fake 8k”, just with the better chip included for upgrading later?

Yes it is ashame the PiMax team is still having trouble with trusting their community with being open. But i can appreciate being shy with fireplugs who praise what they like & act extremely poorly when they hear something they don’t like.
They could have been crooked & waited til the units shipped & said oops.
My guess is that they were hoping their display partner would have had the pioneered driver board ready by the time of the kickstarter.

In all honesty though if it wasnt for our questions they would not be offering an 8K X and backers would have been extremly disapointed when their 1440p headsets arrive in Janurary. This will be better off for Pimax in the end when people start reviewing the first 4K headset in 8 months. Thats if LG hasnt released their new patented displays first lol

I am disappointed that they didn’t share key details like the native res per eye & i am sure the community would have reacted better if this reveal was even say a week ago instead of 24hrs before launch.
Sure I am not very happy in those key points. However this headset will mean so much more with the unit as a whole in features & expandability. Steam tracking & controller support at launch.
T2bh current vive users will be able to enjoy these headset more than those at launch as they own componets thst the rest of us need to wait or invest in Vive’s controllers & steam track boxes.
How long will the cable be on the Kickstarter version? Will it be equivalent to the 16Ft HTC Vive?
Can I use Extension cables to extend the length?
