Pimax 8K VR Frequent Asked Questions

Add me to that damn list.

It was nice to move from 1920x1080 upsampled to 2560x1440 upsampled though.

If history is any indication, we’ll be here trying to get Pimax to get native 4K going for the old 4K and the new 8K.

Lol so the1440p was upscaled in the pimax 4k ? Is this true?

On the contrary. If that was the case, i wouldn’t be telling folks to wait that are unsure.

So instead of jumping to conclusions read ehat is posted. After all i recall you saying they eere not capable of creating tgeir own render but in the 1.2.9x you congratulated them on it & now again calling them incapable when it suits your distaste.

Yes, the pimax 4k can handle maximum 1440p input. First half year it could only handle 1080p.

Ah yeah I was wrong, after pushing crappy, buggy and faulty render engines to their paying customers for more than a year (!!) they finally fixed it. Should I clap my hands now?

I wonder where they are its about to be 10 am over there and still no new news!!:unamused: Probably in a meeting

This was not a secret or something, each and every pimax 4k user knows it runs 1080p or 1440p, and the second was not added at the day first, it something they improved afterwards.

I’m not really really surprised about a lack of native resolution. Its not real an issue that they use ‘physical amount of pixels’ in their name (pimax 4k, pimax 8k, indicates physical amount of pixels) and i dont care if its upscaled until pimax stays a most high tech vr headset at the market.

I’ll get one and hope to get first batch so quickly as possible, because its either you wait one more year or halfyear for new hdmi/dp/double dp version or not. I preffer not to wait and there is no other choice to get a headset with so much fov, no sde and no ghosting.

I also dont have 1080ti and looks like volta (as long as new hdmi or new dp) seems not come out until 2018.

Well that’s your opinion me I want the best !if they offer me a chance to upgrade and it seems fair then and only then will I take it .

Yeah it’s a dilemma. Pay now for a headset that’s really not THAT much of an improvement and risk having to buy another one in 8 months … or wait for true 2x dp. A tough one. I think I’ll let the price make the decision for me.

Xunshu already said that there is an upgrade path earlier this afternoon. did you miss that one?

Yeah she made that up on the fly it seems. How are you going to swap mainboards in/out ? People who tried to clean their lenses damaged their pimax already by damaging the ribbon cables. And what about guarantee ? I highly doubt she was serious. I don’t think she thought it through.

No "I got it but it didn’t sound definitive it sounded like they were still working on the old solution I want to hear a package and specifics of how they will handle it i am not trying to be stuck with a headset I don’t want

And who says they’ll even make a 2xDP version ? They promised native 4k resolution too for the 4k. That didnt work out very well neither. They just stopped mentioning it and replying to questions about it at one point. And that was it.

So when are you releasing your render engine? After all you said often how hard can it be to get it right?

So folks i will close with this. The kickstarter like any is not an easy decision.

So that being said if native 4k/eye is the key feature you want WAIT.

If you have any doubt WAIT. Til reviews ease or confirm your doubts.

The 8k & 5k respectively kickstarter models are not final products (like any kickstarter product) & is intended for developers & early adopters.

Its hard to build a computer componet when the tech needs to be created instead of using pre existing parts.

Yes they should have been more open on key details. Ie native launch res support & explained manual focus issues more clearly.

Oh yea. I forgot they are liars and cheats out to get your money. /s
Come on, if they aren’t on the up and up how would they have succeeded thus far?
You got a 4k for a bit cheaper than the available headsets at he time. If you are unhappy with PiMax then sell it, cut your losses and don’t buy anything from them again.

Never owned a laptop? Guess you can’t swap a wifi card in them too bad. Guess i won’t buy a laptop.

Thanks for letting me know.

What a nonsense. I wrote a flasher for them that worked 10x better than their own crappy flasher. I wrote a firmware for them that people could use to repair their pimax after it stopped working if they opened it. And now you want me to write their renderer too ? All for free ? And they take all the profits ?

I can. I disassembled my pimax several times. But I know several people damaged their ribbon cables and had to send in the pimax for repair, just search the forum. And now you want people to do this to replace the mainboards ? That’s just plain stupid.

Yeah whatever mate … Just sell everything and go away, right ? For someone claiming he’s not trying to shut people up or send them away, you don’t seem to eager to have them here neither.

Ha Ha Ha. I’m from the USA. Far from China. I’m just weary of you guys complaining. Just wait and see what they do before you commit any more money to them. All of this back and forth is not going to change anything immediately. I bought a 4k during all that BE mixup. I was pretty upset too that I didn’t get a 4k like I wanted. But they did come through with a solution for that. They will do the same for this device too. It can’t be done in a day.
