MRTV: Pimax 8K vs Pimax 5k Plus: SDE & Quality Comparison At Maximum Quality Settings & Supersampling On

I’d say the left has Blacker or blacks and whiter whites but the lines are a Little blurred .:face_with_monocle:

Sounds good but i think even the manufacturer may have difficulty explaining it to you & they built the device.

Well that’s true. When I started hacking the xbox 360’s dvd firmware I first thought it was a coffee machine. Figuring out it didn’t make coffee set me 1 month back to hacking it.

I have not been watching it no, but (saving myself some research) am I given a summary of the full context here? “Same” in what way?

Silky smooth?

I wouldnt say any of them looks silky. But no matter how much you bend on that image, the left one will have more definition to the lines.

Lemme make it bigger for you…

And remember that image is zoomed like 200x

yanfeng recommend to notice the word of vittorius which has more clarity.

My friend tell that he always look the signs in the game (such as turn left , turn right). So I am not sure that what we should choose between clarity of 5k+ or more definition as you said.

I already ask my friend, he making the game by himself, may not general driving game, but it is driving trainer which have to look the sign.

It’s because these are stupid phone camera shots. Not an acurate test. Your better of trusting the first hand impressions. Just to note Sweviver has perfect 20/20 vision too

@Davobkk Exactly :slight_smile:

I think if phone camera has a problem, sebastian should not use this photo to show because it can make the misunderstand. He can compare between the photo and his real eye.

Thats what Im trying to tell you as well. And thats a reason I dont feel the need to make more through the lens, as my camera is not always showing what my eyes are seeing.

I would suggest Sebastian to start playing some games or simulators to rally see the difference

Yea but the left image has too much black beans covering the white which is no wonder that it wasn’t clear and sharp. The human eyes need light…can’t see shyt in dark. No wonder some of the screen shots show it being dark for the 8k. Even your video showing dark scenes in motion.

Comparing 1440p upscaled to the Vive Pro as proof the 4k scaler is better. Not understanding to do a proper compare you need a headset with a 1440p rgb to see how well the 4k scaler is.

The qhd rgb lcd like the 5k will be sharper better picture than the 4k’s upscaled image. Similarily to the 5k native vs upscaled 8k.

Vive Pro pentile cannot give a proper 5k vs 8k comparison with the 4k as it’s not rgb.

Sweviver. Is the blur your describing with the 8k kind of like with projectors when you defocus the lense a little. Text looks less sharp but graphics can look smoothed out?

There is one thing to remember here. Your camera has a panel with a pixel arrangement as well.
Align the camera pixel pattern to the image you are taking photo of and you will get more clarity

Camera panels have always horizontal/vertical pixel matrix. Of course it will never look good photographing diagonal pixel alignment with a horizontal pixel aligned panel. That creates color fringing and aliasing. And thats what you see in basically every 8K photo

Is there a difference between watching 4K video on 8K than say 720p video? Is the sharpness increase? Or are the video still blur? And if you watch it on 5K+, is the video sharper? Or the same? Never mind about SDE.

I would say its not blurred once you go PiTool 1.5. The rendering has improved drastically with PiTool and 8K in latest version as well (from today).

the only thing is that you get more jagged edges on straight lines and less clarity because of the pixel arrangement.

Wait, they just came out with the latest version of Pitool today?

By the way (it’s PIE TOOL)…not PEE TOOL. Pee sounds like not very good…like inferior.

Well, I don’t know what is what, nor how things are rendered, nor labelled, but in the right hand picture, I can make out the lines farther into the distance, before they dissolve into a haze - they are also drawn thinner, without becoming blurred, nor clumping into thicker bright diffuse splotches strung together by darker fuzzy stretches, the way the do on the left; Instead: uniform, clearly delineated - i.e: Better defined.

Anyway… I’m to…err get up and go to work in half an hour… Ahem :stuck_out_tongue: Nighty night. :7
