Curious: Does 1.0 correspond to the same bitmap size for both devices - i.e. absolute numbers, rather than relative, or are they different?
Left is also colder, though… :9

We agree. Perceived. Just like Videos upconverted/upscaled. A dvd upscaled will never look as good as a native blue ray. Sj seems to be having difficulty with comparing pentile to upscaled rgb screens.
Which means we come back to perceptional bias. What looks better to you? Not what is Technically better.
Folks with higher technical aquity will different visual preferences.
@mmorselli for example recently gave advice on better through the lens camera settings as most apply filters that are not apparent that are on by default.
@yanfeng said the interesting phrase. Art vs clarity. @sweviver now describes clarity vs detail definition. While both do say they prefer the 5k’s clarity due to native input
StarVR chose specialized rgb-w oled displays over pentile for good reason.
I don’t believe I have seen anyone defend pentile.
Yes left is 8K.
There is one thing wrong with the 8K. Thats the diagonal pixel arrangement. If you would be looking at straight horizontal lines angled 1 degree then 8K is jagging more.
If you look at a 30+ angled line you hardly see any difference.
In games, the vertical arrangement can look better on distance while on charts the horizontal 5K+ pixels will always win.
Image on the left has a nicer white but overall looks worse. Image on the right looks far cleaner, all lines look more consistently white (well off white), less stepping visible and just more of a solid look to the lines.
Man I just really love your wisdom. Next time I start a firmware reverse engineering project I’ll ask you for advice first. It would save me so much time if I wouldnt have to figure out the difference between a DVD and bluray player first, before modding its firmware.
The right side (which is 5K+) look better. I don’t think this prove anything. Yeah 8K has more “stuffs” that make up the line but it looks like the line is being cut into little blocks which make it look terrible visually.
Yes even with Articles someone technical csn understand like psvr’s virtually no SDE (rgb) but visible pixels vs Og Vive & Rifts higher input res & sde due to pentile.
Grumpy old men or the Odd couple you decide. Lol
The cleaner is the clarity of 5K+
Sorry that goes over my head a little bit. Don’t go too fast, I’m still at the point where you explained the difference between DVD and bluray.
Game? Wasn’t that Steam VR home?
yes, I forget about that.
Some model in steam home.
I tag yanfeng and voodeooDe to test the same text in real o virtual too.
I think we should test the same game or same tool to compare for avoid the mistake of software or some setting.
Test Project Cars and look at the distance and cars licence plate numbers. With 8K, you can barely make out the number and letters.
@mmorselli mentioned to check phone camers settings & i beleive he said to use Raw if not default as the phone cam will apply filters.
Nice to see too, thanks! I responded to my pimax shipping email to confirm switching to 5K+ and feel really relaxed after an initial 24hours of head scratching
What about using Test images to replace the logo to show basic upscaling of pictures?
You haven’t been watching sj compare the 4k rgb lcd to his Vive pro saying the Vive pro & the 5k are the same?
Im not sure why this discussion even takes place
All I’m saying is that the 8K has an advantage especially on distance in simulators where you clearly get less jagged edges and more definition because it has more pixels to render on, as long as the PiTool rendering is high enough for the 8K - which on the other hand is not even possible in most games with todays GPUs. This is why I chose the 5k+ as it just has too many advantages in comparison. At least for now when GPUs are limiting us.
Also Im not sure if there is any point in spending another full day taking through the lens images looking at text charts when we clearly know the straight pixel pattern on the 5K+ gives us more clarity in text, I already covered that in review.
There is much more for me than pixel peeking I’m spending my time on performance. Its the only problem I see with the Pimax:es right now
