I think you also lose the backer discount of eye tracking
Need to know if the 8kX in upscale mode or normal FOV mode can do 2m cable extension or can do wireless in either of those modes before I can commit to upgrade to anything.

8K-X extension cable won’t work due to bandwidth limitations of the Display Port cable. They said today it only works with the standard length provided cable.
yes but they didn’t mention if it would work in upscaled mode or maybe reduced FOV since then the requirements are lower.
Personally it you have your heart set on using an extension cable I’d get the 8K Plus as remember the 8K Plus and the 8K-X have the same panel technology.
Or if you’re patient, wait longer and see if by some engineering tinkering they come up with the idea you mentioned of a ‘compromise’ by lowering the FOV to support an extension cable.
The problem with this is of course it would take Pimax time to test, and time to prove it’s a reliable work around.
No, its not a con. It’s just that you really aren’t getting a discount for the new headset. You will have paid Pimax $948 and you will have gotten 2 headsets for the cost. No con involved in that. The trick is that Pimax will avoid the cost of having to send out the stretch goals from the kickstarter to you.

I totally agree it’s confusing, but as far as Pimax are considered once the backers are out the way, the whole purchasing system is simple. To be fair though it is Kickstarter and the whole ‘Stretch Goal’ concept of Kickstarter is what has complicated matters and of course Pimax upgrading their headsets within 2 years of ending the kickstarter meaning loads of people want the newer models.
Yes I got lucky with the 8K-X situation, but when I first backed it people were calling me crazy for handing over money for a headset ‘‘that will probably never be built’’ and enthusing about how incredible the 5K Plus was.
Yet that’s precisely why I backed the 8K-X as I knew the technology would get outdated quickly and better graphics cards would be out within a year of the 8K-X being launched in what I hoped would be 2018. Technically it will be sent to American backers at the end of December 2019, and new GPU’s come out probably around May 2020 so it’s only a short wait if you want to turn the settings up on a 8K-X. For now, 8K-X works fine on a 2080TI which is a relief, as most of us thought we’d need to buy two GPU’s at a minimum just to get the 8K-X to watch movies never mind play VR games.

I’m hoping the taxes are just an oversight on the shopping cart set up, as the website is still an early beta.

Kevin acknowledges some of us had added items to our pledges we might not want like extra base stations (or for some of us just 1 base).
He then said we could open a ticket to get a coupon we could use.
He then indicated that bases could start shipping anytime now so I find it important that we know before that if we might parlay them.

How much credit $ for a base station?
Can I hold this credit and use the value with my $100 5K+ coupon and apply to Sense controllers?

yeah, you 8kx backers are really the only ones getting a deal, but you also took the biggest risk upfront so it makes sense that you would be rewarded for that now. As an 8k backer I’m not really getting any deal out of it, but if the 8KX is really as good as they are saying then I don’t have a problem with it. I personally still got a year of great use from my 5k+
That’s not fair for 8K backers. I had 0.5 hours use of my 8K in 1 year. And you get also a 100$.
I’m a backer 8k, When I upgrade to 8kX with plan D, It will come with standard headphone right? Can I order deluxe version? Is taking off and on between deluxe headphone and standard easy? I want to use deluxe audio in very noise situation and normal time I want to use standard. Can I just order ONLY deluxe headphone after I test standard headphone?
I am thinking about people who buy kickstarter campaign from other backer which expensive than the retail price. They get the commitment that they will get all free reward and that selling become scam?

When the 5k backer become 5k+ which pay cheaper than 8k backer around $100. Can we refund $100 or buy eye tracking by this coupon? I believe that pimax will have other campaign which have same similar discount or may I buy the second hand of 8k x which be cheaper withinn next one year. I still don’t have high spec of pc.
