From what I can tell, you’re right. To get the “base station and controller upgrade”, you have to pay the $179 and pay $999 to get the 8kx. Given that you, like me, never used your headset as you couldn’t, it seems kind of a bad move. They say, “If your headset is having trouble, you should just send it in and get it fixed” But since you and I never used the headset, we have no clue if it works.

If I don’t choose any plan until December, how about my $100 which I get 5k+ instead of 8k?
Other question, I will get $199 or $99 for eye tracking? I see image at somewhere, try to read it more.
My plan is sell my package to other $1200 and use $100 to discount the eye tracking. So I don’t have to rush to buy this, May I will wait for later discount (depend on my money at the end of year).

Hello, Kickstarter backer number 6841 here (could you please add the Backer status to my account as this is my first post on these forums). I pledged for the First 8K Full Package Ever package (8K Headset + Controller*2 + Base Stations *2) but then switched from the 8K to the 5K+ when that was offered later.
Now if I would want to get either the 8K+ or the 8KX through the backer upgrade plan C and keep my bundled base stations and controllers, from where would it be possible to have the Pimax Sword Sense controllers upgraded to the Valve Index controllers? Is it possible to ditch the $100 wireless discount in exchange of free EyeTracking? I can also skip free content. I just want headstrap and EyeTracking and be done with KS.

To my understanding of the plan options. Plan A to Plan C is restricted to backers that backed the bundle option. And if you are like me(Headset only). You are restricted to purchase the Plan D only. Am I right? @PimaxUSA, @SweViver

The prices on the website are wrong. When you keep the discount for the eyetracking it charges you 100 more than it should.

It does seem so extremely wasteful to have to complete an RMA on my 5K+, and then follow up with an upgrade.
So much wasted time, postage, materials for an un-necessary extra HMD.
Honestly wondering if I can justify it.
Are 5K+ backers still going to receive the Modular Audio Strap?
Can we add the comfort mod if we drop the software titles and fans and other stretch goals?

ok, im pretty confused and just want one thing cleared up. for transferring from 8k to 5k + we were told we would get a 100 usd coupon to be used on anything in the store.
Am i to understand pimax is going back on this and is now having it so that i downgraded my headset, to get a coupon that i can only use to upgrade my headset to a headset that is minimum twice the cost of my current.
When we were repeatedly told we could put this 100 usd against accessories like eye tracking, controllers etc. Please tell me i am misunderstanding this.

I couldn’t agree more and I implore Pimax to reconsider. @PimaxUSA said at the end of the video that it would be logistically more challenging to do 1 step RMA upgrades. But consider for a moment all the shipping that has to take place in order for this to happen:
- I ship my faulty 5K+ to Pimax.
- Pimax ships my repaired 5K+ back.
- Pimax ships me my headstrap separately.
- I sell my repaired 5K+ and have to ship it.
In order to get the most money for my repaired, “like new” 5K+ I can’t even unbox it and try it out. Therefore, if for some reason it is faulty, the buyer will have to RMA an RMA bringing us to a possible 5th and 6th instance of shipping.
If I opt out of backer rewards to help bring down the price of an 8KX then I can’t even offer backer rewards to whoever I sell my 5K+ to in order to sweeten the deal, leaving me less likely to find a buyer.

Earlier on with the cracking cases there was an option to not RMA and just keep the cracked unit in exchange for a coupon/discount for future upgrades.
Is that still something that can be considered to minimise all this RMA time/cost?

- Where can i order the fans?
- How can i buy the Eye Tracking Addon?
- How can i upgrade to the Index Controllers?
- Where can i order the Protective Caseings? (and how much does it cost)
