Matteo311 review - Pimax 8KX VS Valve Index

There will likely be an updated review, I suggest you check it out.

I guess the issues people have are pretty much the same in the majority of the cases?
Thus it might be best to put your tutorials into PE as wizards, so the biggest group of Pimax customers can benefit (I guess most 1:1 sessions are with business customers?).
PE is definitely a big step into the right direction!

For sure!! Without PE I don’t think I would have been able to fix my eye strain. Huge improvement

I was generalising based on your comment that you “wish Martin or I would have had the chance to talk to him”, you didn’t say you wish he had talked to “pimax”.

I also didn’t say everyone or project that, you’re inferring that to belittle my opinion which is what you’ve done a few times.

I’m clearly suggesting what he is facing is what buyers are “potentially” and “could” be facing, not ‘are’ facing! I couldn’t say what the ratio of people would be, I’m obviously in no position to, and I’m sure you aren’t either as you won’t hear every story or complaint or know about people that discuss it in private or just put up with things.

Let’s not confuse with whom uses sock puppets for self promotion as all was unveiled long ago. I will however not post the screenshots as your past actions in such are not important to bring back into the light.

i think his first impressions count more to us…

We never know how his updated review will be influenced by pimax now…

Also the things he mentioned are well known issues since the beginning(bad mic, wich mabe can be fixed with a fix in pitools but nobody listened to these problems.Eyestrain, alot off people had this problem since the beginning) And the audio we all know by now…

I sold my 8kx while still waiting on my DMAS all this time,But when those issues get fixed i will maybe buy a pimax 8kx again…

To be fair, ipd/eye strain issues are going to be unique for every user. Some will experience it, some won’t. I personally have ipd of 63 and no longer get eye strain since using the lowest ipd setting and wearing glasses with the thick foam. No offsets needed.

A wizard walkthrough guide in Pimax experience on headset adjustment and using ipd + vertical offsets could be helpful for some. But for others, only the extreme hardware ipd mod may give relief.

No wonder You’re not getting any eyestrain if You’re wearing glasses with thick foam…

I’ll see myself out… :zipper_mouth_face:

It’s not fair to criticise Heliosurge with this, and it seems like a deliberate attempt on your behalf to divert the conversation by strawmanning what Heliosurge was trying to say, by taking what he said out of context and misconstruing it in what appears to be an attempt to make his argument more easily refutable, because you had no refutation to use.

Heliosurge was only pointing out that you allude and refer to solutions for issues people experience, without ever providing much by the way of details regarding those solutions, especially on the subject of IPD.

In fact, when it comes to posts which you have made in relation to IPD, I haven’t seen much by the way of your posts in which you have provided detailed solutions or guides to fix clarity or IPD issues, only refutations and dismissals by claiming that these issues only affect the small minorities and outliers who are not like most other people whom you have known to have used Pimax headsets.

So if anything, it was a nudge for you to provide more details on those supposed solutions, and not an attack on you or an expectation that you ought to meet all of Pimax’s customer service work.

Only got a 5K+, but sounds like a honest review from them, especially when it came to the features, or rather lack of.

Short cable - Buy our longer cable
No Bluetooth, - Buy a dongle
Bad audio - Buy better speakers which are compatible.

Now that is what consumers who have not bought any pimax headset will think when watching this review. Let’s not forget that apparently the usb C port isnt even usb3 based on what ppl have said here.

By the time they have produced everything for the kickstarter, these headsets are going to be obsolete!
Actually the 5K+ already is!
Seems pimax no longer sells it, and if or when the controllers are released, they’ll be made from the tougher blue plastic, so wont even match the headset.

One thing Pimax could do is release a breakout/link box like the vive has.
This can include the bluetooth built in, and an extra 2m cable from the PC to the breakout box to increase the total length.
I am sure many of us would want this to help with shutting down the base stations when you log out of steam and/or pitool

The 8kX and presumably the 5kSuper have usb3 controllers. The other headsets only have usb2 capability(check your 5k+'s usb cable; it is not a usb3 cable).

It would need to be with pitool (Lighthouse) shutdown vs steam due to running Oculus games.

I really can’t see how Pimax can progress as a company if the Pimax staff are in denial. You literally said only a few users have problems which you or other staff members can sort out over the phone. Wow.

If Pimax HMDs were such great headsets with just problem users why in a month Steam users grew did Pimax HMDs fall? Even Riftcat Vridge has more users than 3 Pimax headsets put together.

Pimax on SHS

Many Pimax owners don’t complain about their headsets because they just sell them on.

I would love to own another wide FoV HMD in the future but by the sounds of it Pimax will continue to use the same IPD, canted displays and lenses as the 5k, 5k+, 8k, 8k+, 8kX and Artisan because they see nothing wrong with them. You’d rather talk to people on the phone and tell them they’re wrong.

This is like watching an episode of Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares.

That’s a tiny fall in Pimax users who most likely switched to a Pimax 8KX or 5K super. Clearly both headsets are not included in this Steam survey, therefore I would take this data with a grain of salt.

Agreed the demographic doesn’t include the 8k+ either. And Steam Survey often has issues in how it collects Data. For example when Valve had there SteamOS it wasn’t included in Linux Users.

That’s because Steam recognizes a lot Pimax as Vive. The numbers are not correct.

No response from PimaxUSA on those supposed solutions to IPD setup issues yet, instead we receive a total stonewalling after his attempt to strawman your question.

It seems that the reason PimaxUSA attempted to strawman your question when you asked him for more details on IPD setup solutions, is because even PimaxUSA doesn’t know or doesn’t have a specific IPD setup guide beyond adjusting the headset tilt and headstrap.

It’s getting a bit hard not to assume that with the constant stonewalling and dismissals whilst alluding to supposed solutions which are never provided.

Looking more ahead: Reading the latest sucess stories from people I hope that a universal IPD setup guide (or optimally even wizard) might indeed be possible. And if it depends on an entity that exists in the real and virtual world at the optimally same position - almost everybody should have Lighthouse trackers available which’s location in VR is known and actually already visualized in the SteamVR start screen (Not Steam Home but the one with the circles on the bottom and the Basestations in the sky. It is not my idea, can’t find the source anymore atm.)
