OK, and I assume the survey hasn’t been released yet?
Correct. The product doesn’t exist yet. Not even in prototype state s far as I understand.
Indeed. You can safely back the yaw platform now and in the survey they will ask you if you wish to upgrade it to the yaw&G-platform. Provided always that they manage to get that one done, of course…
Gotta love those stretch goals!!
A rocking chair? I want the hammock and gyro cup holder! I wonder if we can get them to add a cooling mechanism to it, but this one I have to see!
I like that they are keeping it realistic. No crazy stuff like eye-tracking for free, which then will come back to haunt you when you find out that you can do eye-tracking but surely not for little money and thus need to ask your backers to pay for the stretch goal after all; recipe for getting a sh!t storm.
…and then you completely f*** it up, and the paid-for solution doesn’t even work properly…
So it seems the YawVR guys are a bit less enthusiastic, and just gift their backers simple programming feats. As if Pimax had said, you get an RGB LED stripe, and the stretch goals then are to unlock blue, then green, etc…
The cup-holder will of course be a true addition. Let’s see of gyro just means with a moveable fix so solely the gravity does the gyro part or if it will be more sophisticated. I don’t really care, they just need to get the motion rig itself perform well ! And ideally add a heave platform soon…
When you use MC with Pitool, did you attach a controller to the Yaw?
No… I use a Vive Tracker puck but yes… you could use one of your controllers to do this as well. I have found that almost all the games I play in the Yaw are with either a HOTAS or a wheel and pedals anyway so I normally don’t even use my left controller. As long as you can assign motion compensation to the puck or controller using the dropdown in the HMD section of the Pitool settings, then you are good to go… Just make sure it is not a controller you are using to control either the game or any windows in steam VR that you assign.
I don’t use controllers or puck, I use this NEW thing that just came out from SRS https://www.simracingstudio.com/post/motion-compensation
This new technology that they employed into their software will not cause the device to shift when the rig started to vibrate even when you attach your device on it. I know there are many that are buying them already in the DOF communities. I have attached one and it works great.
This should be that device from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/High-Precision-Accelerometer-Magnetometer-Triple-Axis-Inclinometer/dp/B01N03WKDV
Just login the forum.
I still not success to add the add-on, lol.
I am backer no 9.
After back this project, I change my mind to not have a racing simulator in my vr room, may place some bicycle with kat loco s to biking in GTA V VR instead.
Yay! Cheers and all that rot! we now have:
the most expensive, cutting-edge rocking chair in the world!
WoOT!! Gotta love it!
It’s a motion simulator for games? I don’t think so, sonny!! Git yor own!!
Edit: and it won’t even spill my martini! Ahhhh, now we’re talkin’!!
To be fair Pimax offered single eye tracking for free. Two eyes cost extra. lol
It helps that this company has a proven track record with the recently released yawVR 1. Then again Pimax had a proven track record with the 4k…but I digress.
They actually did promise that, and broke that promise as well. Lol.
with Pimax its not the complexity of the promise that they have trouble with its honesty.
I mean they promised to prioritize backer orders ahead of general consumers and couldn’t even do that.
The YawVR 2 shouldn’t require pucks or pimax MC right?
I would say Pimax offered stretchgoals which went beyond what they could do for the money. A chevron with proper RGB stripe shouldn‘t have been too complex/expensive, eye-tracking for free already struck me at tthe time of being a bold claim - but I then remembered that an eye-tracking solution supplier (not 7invensun but I believe a German one) had stated in an interview a couple of months earlier, that if done in volumes, their solution would only cost a couple of dollars so I thought Pimax must have inquired and have gotten confirmation on that. Turns out nobody has implemented proper eye-tracking for little money so far…
Pimax inability to be honest about having overpromised certainly made things a lot worse, but I personally don‘t see that as the only issue, while believing that they could have met the goals with no greater problems. I believe they had massive problems with some of the stretch goals.
Hence why I am glad that YawVR have so far not promised any crazy ambitious stretch goals.
I didn’t know roller coaster would cause motion sickness in a rig. I thought it would help get rid of motion sickness. Now, I have DOF simulator and never feel sick while driving. So I wonder if it’s Yaw VR 2 that causes motion sickness.
I have a theory on this… He is using the Quest 2 for this test and with that there is no rock solid form of motion compensation out there currently. In all of my testing thus far the only form of MC that has been 100% solid for me the the MC built into Pitool… All of the others have had too much drift and a noticeable bit of lag which can indeed cause motion sickness. I have been doing VR for over 25 years now and nothing ever gets me feeling off these days that is until I started playing around with other headsets in my current Yaw 1… Hence why in all of my Yaw vids you usually only ever see me in either my 8KX or more recently the 5K super because the smoother framerates really shine with simulator gaming. []-)
I have pledged the same, but now i’m wondering if I really need it. I feel like i’m paying an addition $400+ for a usb hub.
I wonder how possible it would be to feed a usb hub cable through the center our selves.
I dont plan on doing any spinning.
However I was thinking that even though I would not do any 360 spins (no space to do cable hanging) I could set it to turn maybe 15 deg yaw, which might be good to give you some drift sensation.
i wonder how fast this thing can turn you and stop on a dime and turn in the opposite direction. Maybe @vrgamerdude can answer that.
Honestly it’s a dream to even have a chance to get basic pitch and roll , i dont know if the super price tag is worth the pro price , I may downgrade
As for casters I 90% sure I can add hardware store casters myself for $10, what are they thinking at $80?
Uh oh, this is bad news because I’m renting, have stucco ceilings and have no intention of hanging cables. I will likely want to use the quest 2 wireless with this.
I didn’t back the yaw platform so just pitch and roll so I don’t think i need to worry about the cable right?
Even if I add spin i would only set it maybe 30 deg max yaw obviously a larger spin would end in strangling or decapitation lol.
If You’re not planning on doing rotation You can just hang the cables loose from something behind the chair and to the back of the chair.
