Yata which headset did you receive & when?
Sorry to hear Crony. You have some in depth knowledge from your enthusiast building headsets. What are your thoughts on causes?
There is an apt on android that works well. Mine is 67.1
But if yoi can get it measured at a eye glasses store or optometrist would be more guaranteed.
It is amazing. But keep in mind some see tge 5k+ dots & others like myself & @mixedrealityTV don’t seem to. I myself have normal vision where as Seb has glasses for reading?
Which headset did you receive & can you post date?
I’ve only spent a few hours on my 5k so far but the first time I put it on was normal fov in skyrim.
I was shocked at the whole world distorting in like a circular wave around my whole vision. I actually thought I wasnt going to be able to use this headset because it felt that bad.
I was then messing about with settings & reloading etc & each time it kept feeling better. I settled on large fov & it looked 10x better then when i first started. (Non bothersome distortion on outer edges).
I think maybe your brain adapts surprisingly well to it, or maybe there is a bug where it can become much more apparent & much worse.
Equally maybe some people find it harder to adapt to this.
I need to play with the headset a lot more before I can really understand it all
Yeah Normal seems best for most. & yes time to adjust to headset flaws can be a must; like folks whom adapted to gen1 SDE.
Just glad your starting to be able to adjust & enjoy.
The brain is an interesting processor that will create it’a own methodes for correcting things.
A buddy of mine can pass an eye examine with flying colors with bad sight due to his brain interpetation of the blurred letters fast enough you’d think his sight is 20/20.
I’m not sure if that is always much of help but it’s a good starting point for sure. I have 2 theories for that. First, since faces are asymmetrical (one eye more left than right) it may happen that ± some millimeters will work better than the “correct” IPD. Second, some IPD values may not be exact for HMD side because of different head shapes (eyes more to the front than back) or by using other facepads.
It absolutely may come down to 1-3mm range of difference, I guess?
Really starting to believe some people got some bad hmds? Does this happen to the 8k as well? Only way to be sure is if you guys try another headset. Send in a rma and request a replacement.
Yeah that’s a terrible idea cause literally everyone sees distortion…it’s just that some get used to it, and some don’t notice it
Can you get your non vr friends to try it out? Don’t TELL them there’s distortion or anything, just let them use your pimaxes and ask “how was it” at the end. See if they mention distortion or not @Sjef @Yata_PL @NoobstaysNoob
This sounds worse than distortion. Could be faulty just saying
Helio , 5k+ , 2 days ago…
geometry distortion is not fixed, I have seen that in Berlin and still see it , exacly in the same place of my vision
Have you checked your firmware version?
hmm only checked PiTool version 0.91
I would try the latest version of PiTool and make sure that I am running on the last firmware.
Well this is what I would do…but I am backer 3169.
I suggest you get this information from someone who already received his headset and know how to check the firmware version and how to update it if needed.
@Heliosurge , @Sjef @SweViver anybody how to upgrade&download firmware and what versios is the latest ?
Edit:
Found firmware hmd updated options in PiTool - it says V2.1.255.168 and geting info “no new version is available” but Sweviver says that he upgrade to.176, how ? where should I download it ?
My headset is Pimax5k plus , model P2
