i cant find any? is there something else then?
did you try to unpllug HMD cable (poweroff the HMD) wait 10seconds & replug it again if you did an update? Sometimes it maybe glitched & requires CPU to restart to use new firmware, not sure if it’s the case with HTC but on Pimax it happened couple of times to me.
The fresnels depite procuding some glare & other famous problems are very helpful for VR though. The main reason why they are used so commonly is not weight or price etc but the fact that they help with decreasing motion sickness, they make people less sick in VR & e.g. when I did a gear vr mod I couldn’t use it due to distortions & lacking great 3d effect (I tried different distortion profiles though) it looked not so bad, but it made me more nauseous, so despite they have issues with sweetspot in those departments (3d, motion sickness friendly) they are quite very good ones.
Got my Vive Pro 2 yesterday and posted my thoughts after several hours of use over on reddit if anyone is interested.
Tldr: With thin pad it’s not as comfortable as the index but the fov is MUCH BETTER and you (I) don’t notice the reduced vertical fov. Sound is worse, colors much better, glare about the same. Overall it’s what I wanted which is great resolution and good Fov for much less than an 8kx with better tracking and much much much much much much better fov than G2.
Your mileage may vary.
Maybe this will help if you haven’t got it going yet. I saw the below post on another website from someone who had the same problem:
UPDATE: got it working by launching the ViveConsole.exe in the program directory and then opting in to the beta.
Since Htc sells thelinner foams it seem that the removable foam is a feature NOT a mod. You should have simply stated hey, if you purchase the OPTIONAL thin foam you can get x results. I get for Tempe G2 having to 3d print an entirely different face cover would be a mod. But you’re wrong on this one instance. I’m still a fan of your channel however. Just food for thought.
I give up for now i will try this tommorow evening…thx
Oh, you got it? cool. Well damn
MRTV has released his review at last.
I don’t get one things, in steam vr you have motion smoothing & in console you have their own setting to enable it, I guess the console’s one should be active, then probably need to test with both cases on/off for steamvr’s one, doesn’t it work at all? If they didn’t manage to have the same level motion smoothing as it was on vive pro it will be the main con IMO for this HMD, it’s why I hated Cosmos coz you couldn’t normally play DCS, Dirt Rally & titles like this with it, but as I saw some other reports, i may guess:
- it will be ready but no clue how good it will be
- it already can be used but maybe something is not setup properly
Do you got a link for me… i cant find it…
just to summarize some imoprtant points for me:
Clarity: Really good. But the G2 is still king. I’d say this is within 10% but I ultimately think that the brightness of the G2 makes it seem sharper. Either way they are neck and neck and the Pimax 8kx would be third sharpest.
Glare: Minimal, slightly better than Index.
Vive Pro 2 FOV :as stated by others, the stock facial interface is garbage and gives you a horrible fov. I swapped it out with the Kiwi 6mm thin leatherette and it provides a major increase. The aspect ratio is still squarish but with the thin foam, you absolutely don’t notice the lower Vertical fov. I would agree with Sebastian that with the thin foam the fov is a noticeable upgrade over everything other than pimax headsets. (Also I do not see this weird water bubble thing that Vodoode mentioned, so I would assume his headset was bad).

Is the edge to edge clarity similar to the Index?sonsolar1
Yes.
Colors: Better than the index, blacks are decent but definitely NOT Oled level. Color’s pop and It has good contrast for lcd. I would say that the G2 has a brighter panel so you notice the contrast a bit more on that headset. But the Vive is pretty close.
Well, that’s the best review so far for going over everything that’s already been said I guess.
However the interest for me is actually what he said about the VP2 over the 8KX ( which I believe he’s never reviewed. Am I right here )
So I’m going to keep my order for at least a week and compare.
similar image and better colors
Fix for Motion Smoothing, June 2nd, 2021, SteamVR Beta update: “Re-enabled motion smoothing attenuation filter (was disabled when fovScale was added in 1.17.8).”
I asked on Reddit, but forgot to mention the 8KX… How is the brightness of the Pro 2 vs 8KX at 100% and what % of the Index brightness do you think the Pro 2 is at?
Below is the link were I saw the suggested fix

Because some of his viewers are here. This is just another issue if people wanting bubblegum reviews like the initial 3 reviews released by 3 of testers whom had free range on how they chose to introduce pimax hmd to the public. Where some of the other testers had rules/guidelines that required an out of box experience.
Now I am sure later Voodoo will do a review with Mods and tweaks. The fact we have a variety of reviewers whom have different approaches is excellent and needed. Unfortunately HTC has often had poor launches or mixed launches.
After reading Ben’s Review it is kind of sad that HTC appears to only have upgraded (on the hardware side) Optics and Panels.
I am curious if there is a mistake in reported specs saying DP 1.2 instead of 1.4(not that this detail is maybe a big deal as even Pimax seems to work well on 1.2 spec as well).

i am trying over more then a hour… but still nothing
This is quite bad. No luck checking with others for similar issues with a solution?
