also have a look at https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/hand-tracking-in-msfs-leap-motion-ultraleap-native-support-for-wmr-openxr/475308 by the same dev. Very early beta, but works with Pimax hand tracking!!

Since the last update of MSFS, which should improve the VR quality, I even can´t use my pimax 5k+ at all.
Used to work alright, but now, it says something like “No OpenXR compatible headset”, when I switch on the VR mode. Steam VR is then crashing.
Every other title works as usual.
Although the performance had a massive drop since the last Windows, nVidia and Pimaxupdates. Since it were so many updates, I cant (or wont) find out, what causes the performancedrop.
But my main complaint is, that MSFS is not working at all, since the last MSFS Update.
Anyone else getting this message of an incompatible headset?
Any helpful suggestions, what I should try?
Many thanks in advance.

If not detected:
Open SteamVR Settings (on your monitor is ok) → Developer → SET STEAMVR AS OPENXR RUNTIME

If that doesn’t work reinstall SteamVR, opt into the Beta version (select properties, Beta).

Thanks for the suggestion, but step 1, I already have Steam VR as Open XR set.
And step 2, Steam Beta doesnt help. :frowning:

are you sure you start pitool first and then FS without steamVR?
Also check the taskmanager before, if SteamVR/VRServer is closed.

That sentence made me laugh out loud. In Asobo’s innermost dreams perhaps, but far from reality. :joy:

Yes, sure. Like all the months before.

But because of ever worse getting problems with the software, the hardware and overall performance, I bought a Valve Index today and ditch my 5k+, when the Index arrives. I sure will miss the FOV, but all the parallel projection issues and other incompatibilities with hours lost for finding a workaround finally got me that far. I really loved the Pimax headset, but the software never really felt like a consumer ready thing. In the first months after finally getting the Kickstarter set, I had no problem with that. But after releasing one new headset after the other, I just can´t understand, why there are still so many problems, which should be fixed first.
I knew and still know, that the Pimax is a niche product for enthusiasts, but even enthusiast just want to use their product from time to time and not always want to tinker around in the settings. Especially, when something was working for a long time and now doesn´t anymore. And I am not regarding to the MSFS only. All of my racing sims drastically lost performance over the last few months. Don´t know, if it is a Windows, nVidia or Pimax Thing, but i even don´t care anymore. I wanna come home from work, and relax a bit in VR, not getting mad about all those absurd errors.

I hope the Index will give me that back. Like in the good old days of the Rift CV1.

I am happy for all of you, who can use their Pimax without any problems, but for me, that was it.

I haven’t seen any new issues since the last update. Never had better performance. Less crashing (1) than earlier versions.

I have had no such loss up to Pitool 261 FW255, so if it’s a Pimax prob it’s after that.

I’m more and more excited. Please please Austin make WFoV will work without Parallel Projection! :pi_smiley:

Perhaps an Xplane discussion thread then? :grinning:

as soon as i have the beta on the machine and PP is no needed, i will think about it.

Just figure people who own Xplane might find it easier to find a video about an add-on for it in a thread about that sim. PP aside.

Verry good tool - you can get sharpness or fps. So far tested in MSFS, ACC and ED:O - must have for heavy titles. I’m not fan of fsr or dlss but at least Nis scaler works great in VR and you can boost your distance clarity . Kinda free gfx upgrade

oh, it fits better here than in all the threads about xplane that we already have.:joy:

How do I get it work with Pimax? I have followed all instructions in the Video. When I press ctrl+F2 while in sim, no menu pop up.

Its working with minor issue in Pimax - double vision , so you need to close one eye during operating in menu. Menu show up at upper left corner. Btw you need check option at desktop menu first to use F keys in hmd.

I tried this on 8KX.
I think the world scale value is reversed, but for me, setting it to 70-80% made the cockpit 1/1 size.
The terrain still feels a bit small, but I can feel the altitude changes sensitively.
Very nice.
