I suggest an actual āpollā of DMAS owners as to who has the high pitched noise.Remember how cracked housings were not a thing? If a poll illustrates the issue bigger than what would be normal, they will have to deal with it.
Kind of wish @Timo.H1 and everyone in this forum were part of the tester group. As this might have been fixed.
Makes you wonder what kind of fluke it was that every tester was either lucky enough to have perfect hmds that donāt exhibit the issue. Or weāre not picky enough when it canāt to what was āPASSABLEā
The āfirstā thing I noticed and posted here was the buzz on right ear when I first put them on my head before even playing any audio.
But it seems that my problem isnāt as great as some of you (seems random)
There seems to be 3 issues or sone combination of them.
If jack is plugged all the way in volume is low or > poor. Pulling out slightly fixes.
Noise / Buzz/ Tetinus sound from speaker when > no audio
Tin can audio devoid of Bass and loudness(may be > related to 1.
am I missing one?
For me the audio is loud (enough) audio is ābalancedā although bass could be a tad higher.
if I do the partial plug trick I have the opposite affect and experience #3
After near 45 days of waiting to Canada finally got mine. OMG the whineeeeeeee
After envying all who have received theirs Iām so disappointed. You guys are right, I took off the HMD and 5 min later I still hear that high pitch sound as I write this. Could also be the edible I just took but the sound is deff there.
Was a nice change to how loud it was with my makeshift headphones, but then once the sound is gone ughhh. I even heard it with sound while in the waiting screen of iracing before I jumped in the car.
Uh. I received my DMAS too (I was a bit uncertain if I had even ordered them but I believe I had used some credit I still had to order them - it was so long agoā¦)
Havenāt installed them yet, thought, I would first read a bit on doās & dontās over here. Now I have scimread through this thread, I donāt even feel like giving it a try. So my take away is that a) I better apply some kind of ear cover to get proper bass/volume and b) there will likely be an annoying whining sound which cannot be essily fixed. So I will probably dump them where my eye-tracking module is laying too, for a reconsideration if I read about significant improvements being achieved with e.g. some firmware tweak.
No idea. I was further back on the original backer list.
The whine is terrible, especially if youāre playing a game such as a horror game, etc. Not everyone with a Pimax plays simulators with continuous background engine sound, so I resorted to replacing it back with my Vive DAS mod.
Based on the lack of response regarding the DMAS whine, I havenāt even bothered to go through the awful experience of an RMA with Pimax.
I provided two different people feedback regarding the whine during the testing. I honestly donāt know why it was ignored.
Iām not trying to be negative towards Pimax here, I loved my Pimax and always just wanted proper sound for it. We all waited literally years for this stuff, and I was super excited to be a part of a group tasked with improving the audio experience. Itās disheartening when you realize some of it clearly went ignored. I just wanted it to work properly, not just for myself for but others here who have waited so long as well.
Be kind of a waste to at least not try it for yourself since you already have them. Not everyone has reported a negative experience and itās not like they are difficult to install. The eye-tracking was a different story with itās universal disapproval and somewhat involved installation. I never bothered opening mine either and just sent it back for a refund.
So I have tried it with sims, itās still too much for me.
To make things worst while I was troubleshooting myself for 30-45 min that constant sound actually triggers a migraine and I threw up. This is a serious problem. I havenāt had a migraine in years and Iāve never vomited as the result of one. I was just in steam desktopā¦ā¦
Iāll be honest I donāt know if I can ever put this thing on again.
@Heliosurge how can he go about rmaing outside of warranty.
I have one of the first 8kx and what options do I have if the HMD is defective and itās been more than a year after warranty?
Do I go back to my makeshift quiet solution and settle that I wasted 200USD on a device I canāt use to its fullest. Or do I just wait to trade in this 1800usd package and by another HMD until then.
Anyways I have submitted a ticket and hopefully they can sort me out. Iāve been here from the beginning and waited so long for this 8kx with premium audio only to it literally make me sick from not even distortion but sound!!!
Hopefully @PimaxVR@nordic@mozi and @PimaxUSA get this sorted with RMA of the headsets if needed of this known defect issue that was originally reported during the DMAS Beta.
It would be interesting to look up reading the serial number to see if it is maybe batch related of earlier 8kX models released.
I have the DMAS too and have no problems at allā¦
I have no high pitch noise and they go loud enoughā¦
With some tweaking you get a very nice and very detailed sound with themā¦
Its lacking some low end for sureā¦But the detailed sound(after the tweaking) is very goodā¦You hear things that you didnt hear beforeā¦
Also because off the off ear design you get a very natural 3d soundā¦
I keep them on my 8kx nowā¦i have the Kdmas also and they have(after tweaking with boom3d) a very good low endā¦But those details on the Dmas is much betterā¦
It would be interesting to compare mfgr date/batch. And system details like Mobos, psu and gpus. Though it seems to be judging be @Timo.H1 's testing using an external usb soundcard that it is indeed headset specific. So either an assembly issue like maybe the sound wire routed incorrectly. Defective component or change in BOM in later built 8kX hmds.
