Indeed. For me even if a small amount of $ needed to swap out (as a non 8k-x backer) would be acceptable.
It is a way of saying, i said āifā people cant use pimax⦠english is not my native language, and im sorry If i did not explain well.
In the faq of kickstarter they said that pimax work with glasses, however i saw this review comment āThe one negative that I noticed with the v3 is that the lenses were extremely close to my eyes; my eyelashes were touching them and created a bit of discomfort.ā
If the lens touch in eyelashes in the people without glasses how will work with glasses?. I think Pimax will fix this anyway, but i think its a good idea to send betas to people with glasses to, or you think its a bad idea?
Pimax will deliver frames but not the lens for the frames.
I dont know any store in my country that make custom lens, and if exists will be at least 200 euros because they are custom. We spent lots of money with pimax 8k to afford more to lens . For some people could not be possible.
Lenses for only one person. What happen if you wanna show or share your Pimax 8K with others that also need glasses?
Thanks for all the kind words and support guys. As Im backer number 2 and 9 I look forward to get at least 1 of the 8Kās as soon as possible, no matter if it is 75 or 90Hz. I promise to do my best covering loads of reviews, tests, gameplays etc with the Pimax 8K as soon as it arrives. Canāt wait to try Fallout 4 VR, DCS, Onward, X-Plane 11, Project Cars 2 and many many more as soon as I get my hands on the 8K
Cheers and Happy New Year!
If the early version will keep working with later pimax drivers Iād opt in for one. 80hz is no issue for me. I had no issues with 75hz on the DK2.
Ok, that would be a scenario which would not be supported IF the 8k really does not allow for use with glasses on. Letās just stay patient and wait another two weeks, then we will understand much more. Until then, nothing we say now will make its way into the V5 anyhow, as it will be fixed by now and Pimax will be preparing for CES as we type in our various wishlists & concerns here.
I still need to hear the opinions of people who try the v5 prototype in the CES, but based on that they can be very positive I could accept to convert from āearly backerā to āearly beta backerā if Pimax offers some exchange program for the final version when they open the public sale or that can be changed by the āXā version paying the difference.
The fact of receiving this product not finished and being part of those testers, I think it should deserve some kind of compensation since it would be helping to polish the possible hardware failures and develop a more robust software version in the final release of the product.
Nothing unexpected:
Requesting the 8K loan unit on the survey ASAP as an 8K X backer just may have been a good decision.
Could you please point out this delivery āagreementā we Pimax backers had on the ākickstarter foundingā? I must have missed part.
8K supposed to deliver in Jan
8KX supposed to deliver in May ⦠am I wrong ??? were you blind ??
check kickstarter page
Iām sorry, maybe I didnāt make myself clear enough. Iām looking for the āagreementā you mentioned⦠not the line that says āEstimated Deliveryā.
Here, let me help you out⦠āAgreementā - a negotiated and typically legally binding arrangement between parties as to a course of action - ⦠No, I canāt find anything that matches that definition on ākickstarter foundingā.
This is serius dude, stop acting like kinder child with your answers.
Lol, the irony is real.
I tried lots of demos a few years ago with the Oculus DK2 and had zero motion sickness @ 75hz. Before that I tried a Oculus pre Christal Cove Prototype @ 60Hz and felt after playing with it for about 30 minutes dizzy for about an hour. So I think I would be fine with an 80Hz version. On the other hand there are people like my brother that is even getting motion sick with my PSVR in most games. It would be funny to see if the higher fov and better tracking alone at a lower refresh rate would get him still sick or if it would be an better or even worse experience for him. But knowing that there will be a better version in march would probably make me wait for two more months if I get the option to choose.
I really hope Pimax is serious about shipping two versions. I mean wasnāt that the original plan with the āXā model?
One version in its current state, even if that means 85hz. Call it a Dev kit if you want, use it to test/generate hype. But get it out now so you can dominate the market (you will have a complete monopoly).
Then you can take your time combining all the wish list features into the āXā version.
Let backers decide which one they want.
Agreed !!! Hope that at least in Feb they send it (8K version) as was planned.
Have you read on Kickstarter what it means to back a project there?
You should have known before spending your money that kickstarters do not have guaranteed delivery dates and most of them are subject to delays. If you bought into this kickstarter without realizing the chance of delay was almost guaranteed then that is your own fault and maybe you should look into what it means to be a kickstarter backer before spending your money again.
They are serious about 2 versions for ā8k-Xā backers.
The 8k at present is delayed & they are considering shipping a limited number Beta 8k headsets while they continue to test what they can do with current hardware setup while exploring new hardware components.
It would not be cost effective to ship all 8k headsets out to recall later & ship final kickstarter model. For this reason as well as others is why the 8k-X was limited to 400 units worldwide.
So many kickstarter projects might be delayed, but that doesnāt mean all should be delayed. Donāt be naive! Reasonable delays can be tolerated, but too much delay may also cause failure!
So we need to make Pimax sure to to their best, and use time efficiently! Time is money!
