Boarderland 2 VR for pc

I try running with large FOV also, adds a lot to my immersion . But I remember there where a few Titels that had issues. Haven’t tried much lately since I was into dirt 2.0 a lot which is great with large FoV.

I ran the game with large FOV without PP and apart from the double images the windows and HUD were correct so it is a combination of FOV and PP which causes the problem and not always which is very strange.

Guys, try removing the cell shading - game looks much nicer in VR without it.

I’m sure that for me, when the writing is fuzzy on the round buttons, it’s an indication that “Compatible with PP” is checked. Are you saying it’s the opposite for you?

That’s what I thought also however you can have PP checked and the writing on the buttons clear especially if you don’t use large FOV.

In the case of Borderlands if the writing is fuzzy you will get the various problems in the game like all windows too narrow whereas if the writing is clear you won’t get those problems.

I am now wondering if this has consequences for other games which need PP checked.

Now after the patch it still needs some tweaking,
But I play it now on the valve index at 90hz at 140%steam sampling and everything on high it realy does look amazing and plays great…

First I hated it but now its almost my favourite! The graphics and gameplay are great!
If the devs keeps patchin this, its a must have then…

Are you restarting SteamVR when checking/unchecking the PP option? Despite Pitool not mentioning this is needed, I seem to recall that I had to. Otherwise, I think it’s only deceptively “on”.

So I just played borderlands 2 and I imported the game into pitool and launched it that way without steam VR. It thinks an oculus is being used and it runs perfectly.

I don’t have Borderlands 2, but the fuzzy text with PP on sounds like the old SteamVR maxtexturesize maxRecommendedResolution issue. The default is 4096 and PiTool is supposed to override that with 8192. Search the forum for more info.

maxRecommendedResolution…

I always restart SteamVR after doing that, in fact after doing any changes in PiTool.

It’s not always fuzzy. It seems to be completely random but if it is Borderlands will not work properly.

I just tried this with large FOV and Borderlands was broken, all the problems that I mentioned before were there so according to me there is no advantage using this over using Revive in fact there are disadvantages as you don’t have any SteamVR utilities and you can’t open the dashboard without the game exiting.

Should steamvr be not running at all?

Yeah I refunded it, again ಠ_ಠ

Yesterday the game was running correctly with Normal FOV using Revive.

Today booted the headset, started SteamVR, dashboard was fuzzy and game was broken.
Changed FOV to Small, Saved, restarted SteamVR, dashboard was fuzzy and game was broken.
Changed FOV to Normal, Saved, restarted SteamVR, dashboard was fuzzy and game was broken.
Changed FOV to Small, Saved, restarted SteamVR, dashboard was clear and game was fine.
Changed FOV to Normal, Saved, restarted SteamVR, dashboard was clear and game was fine.
Changed FOV to Large, Saved, restarted SteamVR, dashboard is clear and game is fine.

I am using the centre arrow from fpsVR and I can even see a difference in the circle around it exactly related to the clarity of the dashboard.

If anybody has an explanation for this I really would like to hear it.

Is SteamVR / Settings / Video / App Resolution set to Auto? If so, it’s based on the average framerate of the previous (10?) runs. Try setting the app res to Manual (mine is set to 50%) and see if the game’s behavior is now consistent.

No, I have it at a custom resolution of 100%.

This only occurs when using PP, it seems that PP has 2 different random executions, one of which makes the SteamVR graphics a bit fuzzy and breaks Borderlands cosmetically and maybe has effect on other games which need PP.

have youbtried running directly feom pitool without steamvr because i had great success this way.

now i just have to turn off the outlines and install the hidef texture dlc and im golden.

I did exactly what you said and Borderlands was still cosmetically broken. As I said it is broken at one moment and another moment it is fine no matter how it is started. PP is doing 2 different things randomly as I said in my previous posts.

Don’t bother with the HD texture dlc as it doesn’t work, Borderlands says that you need a different version of the game and refuses to load it.
