i got the files from the borderlands 2 remaster version, and the game looks amazing now…
Its the best looking game now on the valve index… And very fun to play!
It looks even better then asgard’s wrath,i cant stop playing it…
You’re having some strange issues! My experience is that PP works fine, there are no random issues for me. In addition, yours is the only post that I’ve seen mentioning problems with the DLC HD Texture pack: it works great for the rest of us!
I don’t know what causing your issues, but you seem to have something wrong…
Edit: which you have probably already figured out. The only new thing here that I’m mentioning is that the DLC works fine: you’ve got something else going there…
Look on the forum, they are mostly saying it doesn’t work. When you pull the trigger to start the game and it says that it is searching for download content do you see a message very briefly pop up?
No, I see a message stating that it’s looking for new content.
edit -I gotta run, back later…
edit2: I’ll relook on the forums, never saw any complaints…
No, do you see a whole window briefly appear?
yes, ‘continue’ is pre-checked.
edit: also, if you look into the pancake version, you’ll see a crapload of complaints of people who thought that it didn’t work or that it wasn’t worth anything because they didn’t understand what it did. There are videos that show the subtle nuances of it: it’s not a world shaking change.
If you read the Steam forum somebody has posted a screenshot of the pop up window and that says that there is a patch required as some content is for a different version of the game. If the DLC is not installed the window doesn’t appear.
Is your minimap always the same width and useable?
Minimap is always the same size: chopped off and not usable (not very important for game play). Game performs consistently.
Edit: found that post that you’re referring to. Nope, I do NOT have that window popping up!
In that case PP is breaking your game cosmetically, all the windows are too narrow and the HUD is a bit broken. You will see the difference with the windows if sometime the minimap is the correct size and then maybe you will understand what I am talking about.
The minimap and the display directly under it are chopped off. No other window has any distortion. The HUD may be a ‘bit broken’ but the game is not cosmetically compromised in any other way that I can discern. And, as far as I can tell, the HD maps are working fine. Of course, I’m not in a position to verify this, atm, but I’ll see if I can find something -not in Sanctuary, yet, so I can’t check that sign.
But I do NOT have that error window popping up!
The letters in the text in the windows are compressed against each other and less readable. Also you see a sort of glare on some distant surfaces such as the volcano in the main menu and the mountains behind you in the main menu. That glare shouldn’t be there.
If PP is working correctly these problems do not exist, believe me.
You can’t answer that error window and it goes very quickly so are you sure that you are not getting it?
It’s my bedtime so we will talk another time.
As far as I’m concerned, this conversation is pretty much stalled until I can do some checking, however, in the interim, let’s clear up any ‘settings’ issues. I don’t remember exactly what I’ve got, much less the terms they’re using: can you get your settings? -I’ll get mine later. Anti aliasing etc…
Next, we’ve got to find a clear and widely excepted ‘test’. A general “the terrain looks better” doesn’t mean squat!
One thing, tho. I don’t want to waste any time on the pregame menu. Those are frequently f’ed up and this one is, too. I’m just interested in the actual game.
Didn’t notice any glares or compressed letters. And, since I’m perfect, that notice is definitely NOT there! I’ll look again, later, lol! I do get a window flash, but the one I noticed is NOT that message. Not saying that there’s not another one, tho.
Could you elaborate on this ?
Just overwrite the files ?
just to confirm what is the Steam app ID for the version of Borderlands 2 you are using?
Also have you tried the mod that turns off this allocating I hear it makes the game look a lot better in VR
Borderlands2 VR: ID# 991260
Haven’t tried any mods except the HD texture pack.
Not 100% sure that this is what you’re asking, but go to the pancake version and find the DLC folder called “Mancana” (about 9gb) and copy it over to the DLC folder for the VR version. As far as I know, that’s all you need to do. The other step is to remove the 60hz cap in the ini file.
Thanks ! That was exactly my question.
I did not get a chance to do any testing last night! I will asap, tho.
Whats unbelievable is that this simple foldet inclusion , they didnt think to do themselves. Why? what possible reason would they think in 2020 that it was a good idea to have n64 textures.
Possibly because it doesn’t work for everyone? -I was kinda wondering that myself and that’s the answer that I came up with. It’s one of the reasons why I’m trying to work with Tonka to verify or not the actual game implementation. Personally, I think it looks better but I’m a great believer in the effectiveness of the ‘placebo effect’.
Also, don’t forget that we’re trying to get the benefit of HD on a 720i screen! Who, in their right mind, would think that it would work?
