I could research it but it might take hours… can you coach me to how to start a SUPEN?
I’m with you. I’m flipping once again to the 5k+. Possible quicker delivery plus fixed the dot problem. My favorite game is a known FPS crusher. In choosing the 8k I was weighing poorer performance but slightly better SDE against downside of 5k+ dot problem. But if the dot problem is fixed then I gotta go with the lighter GPU burden and figure the SDE will still be much improved over my regular Vive.
I doubt you can nowadays find a hi-res LCD with a resistive touch layer. The capacitive touchscreens have taken over. I haven’t seen the old technology for many years. Regardless, the dots shouldn’t be there in a HMD and Pimax did the right thing by replacing the LCDs (or whatever they did to get rid of the dots).
I got a DPD tracking number on Thursday. My HMD should arrive this week. I changed from the 8K to the 5K+. I’m very curious whether my HMD will have the dots or not.
I’m also curious about other issues like cracks in the housing and dead pixels. But I hope that these were issues of the first batches and by now the problems are solved or rather the QM has been improved.
Thank you for the official statement on the problem and for offering such a great support. I think you are establishing solid reputation with these steps. A satisfied bunch of several thousands early backers will do you more favor than any advertising campaign!
I know this issue about vertical strip since acer mixed reality and it is reason while I don’t like pixel pattern like this. Now I am familiar with this while my friend still be annoyed.
Dear people from Pimax. @Matthew.Xu
I am trying to get in touch with you through your support website, but I only get a blank page.
The problem is that my Pimax 5K + has the famous black dots, in addition vertical tearing most noticiable in Virtual desktop and the concentric rings of fresnel lenses are very visible.
I think these virtual reality glasses have a lot of potential, but those flaws make the experience not as good as expected.
I’ve received yesterday my 5k+ and i have the black dot issue too.
Its not as bad as i imagined it would be but still you see them on unicolored areas.
I’ve opened a Support ticket and got response under 10 minutes. I guess i don’t have to worry about it too much. Do anyone know if there are ‘new’ problems with the exchanged 5k+ ? or will it be just replaced/fixed and thats it.
Simply explained: if you don’t see them on homogeneous colored screens, then you don’t have this issue. They are always there, so this isn’t something which ‘might’ occure, it is there - or not.
Believe me or not, just open your Browser, open google, and look at the white screen there. You will see it then if you have the problem too. And do yourself a favor - don’t force it. If you haven’t noticed it yet, you will provably never and thats a good thing, isn’t it?
I created SUPEN-1375 and demonstrated my ‘black dots’ issue with the following images:
But I was informed by my SUPEN case owner that the ‘black dot’ issue is for headsets with actual dead pixels, like so:
Could you please clarify? I thought this replacement announcement was for those of us who have the black dots uniformly spread all over the screen that look like a perforated leather, or the dots found on a resistive touch-screen?
