About the Pimax 5K+ Black dots Replacement

indeed they said that they will replace headsets that have the black dots issue like what you have…
So thats a strange reply…

After-sales problems require our technical team to respond to you, I am sorry that I am not good at this.

"Dear Community,

We have recently received a lot of feedback about the 5K+ product’s black dots, and we are very sorry about this. We will strengthen this aspect of testing in subsequent products to ensure quality assurance for each product.

For those users who have received black dots products before, we have decided to replace the new product for your to ensure the use and experience of backers"

Pimax said yes. But they have to change all older 5k+ headsets because all of them has the black dots. Or change at least to the backers that are more affected with this problem. I hope they are not only talking about the dead pixels. one thing its a dead pixel other its black dots issue…

@Matthew.Xu you have to clarify this or many backers will start to ask whats happening.

Pimax have cleary said that they will replace units with the black dot issue . Support doesn’t seem to be aware of its own return policy . Pimax have released an official statement on the issue so they can’t change there position now . That would be very unprofessional .

I just made my post about my black dots here https://community.openmr.ai/t/smell-of-the-new-pimax/13751.

I would say that if it is true that they changed/modified panels along the line and they now ship the headsets without them (though it needs to be verified, as mine, which arrived yesterday has them) it would make sense to offer the replacement for those with black dots.

But, if they do not actually have such panels (and therefore do not ship headsets without black dots), then asking for the replacement is useless.

may i ask for what reason?
did you pointed to this thread?
did you delivered a picture of the dots?

Just to avoid any misstep on my side, to whom you reported the black-dots and how did they respond? When I connect to Support site, I see two possible candidates:

  • Technical Support
  • Bug Report.

I have the black dots too as I described it in the other thread. I guess your 5k+ and mine were from the same batch (I received mine yesterday too).

He had one of the first headsets. My replacement has no different plastic, looks and feels the same other than a new facepad, new dot free displays and 20g more weight. So don’t expect better housing quality unless you have been one of the first backers.

For me the new facepad and dot free display its enough. but i will be very disappointed if i receive with black dots, mainly because I asked to wait for the full pack and they sent anyway…

I was sent some pics that I couldn’t view that was supposed to represent what they were going to cover… I assume that the pics were of dead pixels…
I pointed to this thread and gave multiple example of the flaw in the panels that were very clear…
I haven’t heard back since then, but plan on making a nice post about what is going on tomorrow…

They will replace headsets with dots matthew just got that wrong and they do the replacements in advance so you can compare them side by side… I liked it

@PimaxVR don’t backtrack on this one or there will be a massive shitstorm! Noone was ever talking about deadpixels in relation to the DOT issue.

i hope they dont backtrack, because its very bad some backers having better 5k+ than others, when they always said that all backers will receive the same quality headset.

I saw the video, but it did not say anything about the screens or black dots, and, technically, no one has so far published the picture of the new panel, which is supposed to not have the problem. It may as well be that the people simply do not notice. On mine it is pretty much evident, so I know what I am talking about, but maybe there are panels where it is less evident?

There is some users with both 5K+. The old and the new ones. And they toll that definitely are differents and without dots.

There’s been a few discussions and pics/vids you may have missed then

Check here

And I can absolutely confirm the dots are practically gone on my new replacement HMD (#3), I can seem them a mile off on the other ones. I also can tell the plastic feels different (slightly less smooth) on the new one, so hopefully that’s a sign of improvement too!

Really happy with the new one…so far… to be continued…

My black dots don’t seem anywhere near as pronounced as before. I got a replacement due to dead pixels. They are there is you look REAAAAAAAAAAAALLY hard. Question: am I supposed to have any?
