That’s great that you can’t see them, but, like I said, maybe your camera can’t focus on it. They are very hard to see, and they are not noticeable under normal use, unlike the 5K+. I only saw it the first time by staring at the white background looking for SDE to compare to the 5K+.

Also, maybe we have different panels.

My whole point of the original post was that the dots are not unique to Pimax headsets only.
They exist on my Oculus Go, whether they were removed and are leaving a “footprint,” or Oculus knows how to hide them better

I’ll see if I can grab a picture but I doubt it’ll be clear enough to see them.

Maybe is an issue only on your headset… ha ha

Try a red background. Preferably just searching “red” in google and looking at the different shades. I’m sure you’ll see the dots. Just like the 5K+, the dots are more apparent with red. I can’t get a good picture with my S7.

Indeed the res of the capture sensor might not be high enough.

Ok, on 100% red I see something, some kind of tiny tiny residue, very hard to find, only on pure red, not on orange nor skin tones only 100 red. Its smaller than a single pixel and its red maybe 10% darker if we use photoshop, barely noticeable, here is a picture but is very dificult;

Is that 5k+?O_o

either shot from too far or the display is different from what we used to be…i mean, i cant even see the sde, which means its not close enough

No, it’s the oculus go, see other pictures above, but on red and screen flickering I couldn’t take better shot

If the Oculus Go has the dots pattern it’ll be easy for any to find a source on the net that will verify this, there are more Gos around than 5ks.
I don’t know why this should matter, just because there is supposedly something similar out there doesn’t make the dot pattern panels any better.

But known is half the battle of any choice.

I am not sure if knowledge is confused with faith here, without evidence it could even qualify as misinformation.

If you know you bought an lcd there is no point in complaining it’s not oled. :smirk:

Nobody bought anything but a pledge. Pimax doesn’t help with making a decision if anything it obscures it.

So go ahead, claim your badge of honor.

No need to claim anything. You said it. Bought a pledge & info was there on both choices well a head of time.

Helio for me and many backers the lower Hz and wobbling effect are more important than black dots, and this info was there too, BUT if now there are new models without this issue we want to know, and we want to know why.
If now the new 8Ks were 90hz wouldn’t you like to know why?

The wobbling that Sebastian spoke of does not affect most users & some habe reported a different wobble in the 5k.

Monday or tuesday we will likely have some answers on black dot pattern that wad well known by over zoomef pics & all from the Sept reviews. With @bubbleball’s more recent posts might be some kind of calibration that another user mentionef to reduce their visibility.

As @pimaxvr stated & seems to hold true as some earlier 5k+ users like Sebastian never noticed them. And as you said you don’t notice them on your Oculus Go; so you might be like Seb.

This is all we want to know, if this is the cause why there isn’t any official announcement from pimax?

Personally I don’t think there is any difference in the newer 5k+ screens specs. I think that the supplier just provides a very inconsistent product to pimax. Different batches have different visibility of the dot pattern.

We have seen some recent recipients have the problem and some not. The picture will become clearer (pun intended) when the warehouse bound hmds arrive at their backers.

Quite a possibility. But I think the take away anyone considering doing a kickstarter. If you have pledge for A & Pledge fo B. If you have a breakthrough Don’t upgrade B to C & don’t offer C to A.

Just give folks what package they pledged for. The adminstrative problems & logistics isn’t worth the hassle. People don’t like to have choices to complicate things.
