Xunshu said update this week?

Well I know Sweviver said he had a job and does his youtube channel in his spare time. Sebastian is sitting on some kind of pile of money and has no other job I believe

Hello, i am Xunshu…here’s the update: No update!

Ha, you know Sweviver works. He has every headset, the best video card… new toys all the time. Work hard, play hard. It is a wonderful formula! (it also makes me think me may not have any kids… That adds a little more complexity to the forumla  )

I hacked into Sweviver’s computer yesterday and here’s what I found on the review of Pimax 8K:

I will just summarize it in two words: It sucks.

LOL

/unlol

(20 char. rule kills any witty remark tho)

Sweviver seems very happy with it. He even said that the reason he hasn’t made many videos is because he’s been playing with the Pimax 8k. He’s also been dropping hints on something about it on his twitter. I’m not gonna take much value from the NDA breaker’s reviews because according to Sweviver, it’s very important to have your IPD correct. It seem’s unlikely that the people who tested the m1 at E3 had their IPD set perfectly.

it’s difficult to know what if any of the e3 leaks to take seriously. some if i remember noted there was no visual screen feedback to adjusting the ipd wheel. If that was the case i hope thats one of the things they tweaked in software for further testing. some noted loads had ipd issues. others paradoxically made no mention of it. I think much if not all of the e3 leaks are a wash, both positive and negative, but given no one made mention in leaks of having their ipd measured (afaik) it adds even more uncertainty/ detracts from value of that information.

I would place swevivers comments way way higher, and bet that ipd is fine but the headset is much more sensitive to correct ipd than vive.

My guess is that because the IPD adjustment doesn’t physically move the lenses like the Vive does. Or something like that. Maybe it moves the lenses, but not the screen, or the screen but not the lenses?

no idea on cause of it honestly. as far as i know the lenses move but not screens.

That makes more sense. Yeah if that’s the case then IPD probably is really important.

When you think about the difficulty of the job these lenses must pull off, that is to span a FOV of 100deg per eye, I would expect that precise eye alignment is critical. Much more than the gen 1 HMDs. Heck, I roll my vive IPD adjustment way beyond my known IPD (greater and lesser) and I don’t see any effect.

I find it strange that on the HTC Vive I cant see much of a difference changing the IPD. But on Oculus Rift the difference between 67 and 68 (for example) is huge. Same goes for Odyssey, which needs a correct IPD otherwise things looks weird.

However, I think its a very good idea for everyone to look up your correct IPD number. A simple visit to an optician is all you need

Edit: And thanks for your kind words guys!

Could you ask Xunshu if you can let out just a few details to stop all the speculation? If the IPD does work when set up correctly then I don’t see why they should let all these rumors go around

Personally i don’t care about rumours, kinda funny how people would assume things and freak out just based on speculations.
i just wait patiently…:hugs::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

hey @SweViver are you allowed to tell us the length of the cable lol…?

Im not allowed to confirm any details, as you may understand. But I would say dont worry about those IPD rumors…

Thanks for the tip. Only asking because I’ve been without a headset for a year now waiting for the 8K. I just ordered the Odyssey and looking forward to seeing the true black levels its known for :8ball: Will probably keep both because I know what you mean about the wide FOV not being the best for every application. Every headset has it’s pro’s and con’s
