@deletedpimaxrep1 please take a look at these very interesting results, you should note that 29% of the polled 8K backers seems to seek an alternative to the choice given 5k+ or 8K. and that only 14% say firmly that they will keep the 8K bid.

  • Will you switch to the 5K+ from the 8K?
  • Will you keep your original choice the 8K?
  • I would like to switch from the 5K to the 8K.
  • I’m an 8K backer and I would like an upgrade solution to the 8Kx.
  • I’m an 5K backer and I will take the 5k+.
  • I’m an 8K backer but I don’t know yet.

If I could still get a 5k+ loaner, then perhaps I’d consider going 8kx

I’m in the same boat… If I could upgrade to the 8k-x pay the extra and use a 5k+ loaner for a year or two till it was ready I would in a heartbeat. Otherwise I’m still on the fence for going from 8K to 5k+.

I’m an 8k backer…I really would like to upgrade to 8kx but I don’t think this will happen…so I sell my pledge. Since somebody already bid on Ebay I hope there will not come the possibility to upgrade to 8kx^^ otherwise I will hate my life^^:D

I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do. Upscale was always the idea.
The 8K does that.

The fact panel utilization is not fully realized is what makes this all questionable but that also wasn’t promised. Large FOV was and 200 degrees was mentioned, that was diagonal and translated to 170 degrees horizontal.
The 8K does that.

The fact people find the result disappointing is actually not something that matters much. But as a courtesy Pimax has offered a possibility to switch to the 5K+ for people who were expecting something unrealistic, like the clarity of a native screen.
Pimax does that.

Also would like to switch to 8KX, if we can get a 8K or 5K+ loaner in the meanwhile.
If not possible then i dont know yet if to switch to 5K+ or to stay with 8K…

Why not buy all of them.
Allow us to buy the 5K+ and the 8KX at KS prices.
Then we can have all the options :slight_smile:

I chose to keep my 8K.
I would too like to upgrade to the 8KX, but i don’t want to wait too long, as not even the backers of it know, when they will get theirs.

I’m switching to the 5k+. SweViver’s through the lens comparison video has pushed me over the edge.
SDE is very important to me and I’m a bit afraid that some software update will come along and make a big change, but it would be foolish to go against the opinions of three people who have spent hundreds of hours wearing these devices.

If Pimax upgrade 8k users for free, then I would want back the price difference of the extra I paid + INTEREST that I would have gotten from putting the money to other investments rather than have it sit in Pimax coffers. (Otherwise I feel like I got ripped off for not backing the 8k instead of the 8kX). I don’t want a stupid coupon when the 8k backers didn’t have to pay extra for all that time.

The right and moral thing to do now is to allow every 8K backer to have an 8KX instead, along with a 5K+ in case it’s not good enough, and also a new computer with two 2080TIs in SLI so we can run it. Anything less than that is unfair.

Well the same is happening to us 8k backers, we gave money to something better than 5k but know we have to choose 5k+ more coupoun or we have worst experience. Some of us feel ripped off not backing 5k… but of course pimax 8k-x should return the difference or give a coupoun instead. backers choice.

Dont need to be 8k-x can be a 8k+ if its possible to do that.

I disagree. The right and moral thing to do is for Pimax to deliver as best a product for us that they can based on what was ordered and within the technological and financial constraints.

I kind of wish that @mixedrealityTV hadn’t started this whole right and moral crusade rheteoric with his rant. If Pimax want to offer upgrades then that is great. But to try guilt them into it based on this ‘right and moral’ crowdthink rhetoric is pathetic.
