Will gtx 1070 laptop with i7 and 8gb ram work for all games? Or just games like fruit nina?

I am so sorry that too late to reply.
It should work, to make sure, we need to do some test. and also we will test the expereince with brainwarp open.

@Matthew.Xu I am glad you replied at all. So, when can we know the results of the tests you mention? It really does not have to be those exact games. Similar games would be fine. But if by the time I have my hands on the pimax 8K, I realize that my laptop can only play basic games like fruit ninja, that would be extremely upsetting.

Hi Yulius, I understand your concern, and I will urge our engineers to feedback the results as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience, thank you.

@Matthew.Xu thanks so much. I am anxiously waiting for the results before the kickstarter campaign ends.

@Matthew.Xu I noticed new uploads using gtx 1070. Running at 80Hz they look fine. But I have 2 questions:

  1. I am using the mobile laptop version of gtx 1070, will they perform similarly?
  2. Are the videos using brainwarp? If not, can we expect even better performance with brainwarp?

@Matthew.Xu I understand there’ll be a difference in performance between gtx 1070 desktop and laptop but will the difference be so great as to make the games unplayable on the laptop?

Are there settings that I can adjust to make the games (like arizona sunshine) playable on a gtx 1070 laptop?

I’ll let them try to play the Arizona sunshine game with their laptop and adjust some Settings. Do you have a better idea?

@Matthew.Xu, can you confirm whether the GPU is having to render the full 4096x2657 per eye buffer as shown in the steam settings in the videos or are you rendering at a lower resolution in the driver and just reporting the 4096x2657 to steam? If so, what is the actual rendered resolution buffer?

@Matthew.Xu No, that would be wonderful. Maybe, show the resulting frame rates and the settings adjusted too. I am not very fussy about things. If it is playable, not nauseating, I will be satisfied. Thanks so much Matthew.

I will submit your questions to the development team and I will reply to you after they confirm.

@Matthew.Xu any updates on the arizona sunshine trial? What settings are changed and what’s the original vs improved frame rates?

@Matthew.Xu Do you have any updates on using more intensive games (than fruit ninja) on a gtx 1070 laptop?

I was confirmed today that the laptops we tested were GTX 1080, and we don’t have a 1070 laptop now.
We recently used GXT 1080 laptops in New York and Germany to demo many games, such as the Onward, Serious Sam.
I’m sorry that we can’t demo the configuration you requested, I hope you will be patient for a while, when the performance of the headset is better, we will update it on time.
Thank you

And the videos that you have published with a gtx 1070?

Those are gtx 1070 desktop.
The ones with gtx 1070 laptop are only used to demo fruit ninja, and they are not on pimax’s channel.

I thought that in the 10X0 family, there were no differences between laptop and desktop.

Thanks.

@Matthew.Xu Real shame! I would really not mind lowering the settings for the games just to have them play on my laptop. Are you using the eye tracker for foveated rendering? That would make lower specced laptop playable right?

There actually are differences. There used to be an “M” behind the mobile graphics card but not anymore. Nvidia removed it because it may have caused some loss off sales.

This is the problem with the “minimum requirements” PIMAX put up. They simply said gtx 1070 or gtx 980 without saying it’s for desktop or laptop and those who doesn’t know better (like me previously) would have thought that the gtx 1070 laptop can work.

I know they actually have a gtx 1070 laptop somewhere hidden away to demo fruit ninja. But if in the last 12 hours there is still no signs of them showing how the laptop performs with higher specced games, It would mean that demoing in GTX 1070 laptops would really make the campaign look bad. And I will cancel my pledge. It’s really a shame they are not more specific with the “minimum requirements” (not transparent?).

Given either a run around or being ignored, when I ask for the demo (on the kickstarter page), really puts a bad taste in mouth. Only @Matthew.Xu cared to reply and for that I areally appreciate it.

I am consulting my colleague in Germany about the configuration of her laptop, pls wait a moment.

@Matthew.Xu THANK YOU. DAMN I really want it to work on my laptop!
