I thought Robin Weng was the CEO of Pimax? Or is Nordic Ren the same person?
Anyway, hopefully this is geniunely the final real timeline that is actually stuck to. See you all in the video chat in 40 minutes haha. Thanks again @Atmos for sharing.
And why you wouldnât have an eye problem.
I repeat a medical report states that 25% of the worldâs population has problems with 3d/VR glasses!
At the roadshow paris show I played for 5 hours with the crystal on games / simulator / sitting / standing on skyrim and I had no problem.
Iâm not going to tell you that the crystal has a problem where I havenât seen one?
And yet in VR Iâm a quality freak.
My pimax 5k+ had faults and I didnât hesitate to criticize it!
I have friends who pilot in squadron on dcs world, on Iracing, on il2 Bob with 8kx and have no problem with their helmet.
But I am not an ostrich who hides his face!
In our squadrons some pilots have this problem that you say with the #pararell projection of the pimax helmets but they are an infinite part in the mass of pilots who use it.
Sometimes they explain their problem to us and I donât know what to tell them except to say: Your personal sight does not support this helmet.
Itâs not just pimax or gamers who have problems with VR.
Then there may be the solution of removable crystal / 12k lenses to put lenses adapted to the sight of certain gamers.
To say that a VR headset can be used 100% for all users is false because human vision is very very complex, already when you go to an ophthalmologist even with a so-called very good view you will always find convergence defects or from the bottom of the eye!
Oh boy! So finally weâll get a youtube show⌠Pimax seem to be more theatrically day by day.
AnywayâŚhopefully this will be the last stage of this story
As a positive note, imho, Ang is a trusty boy⌠different than others proclives to misinformation, showbusiness and clown acts and speeches
25% of people have a problem with VR (isnât necessarily) and eye problem as much as a VR problem. One could argue that those people are just more sensitive to flaws in faking real life visual fidelity on a pair of angled 2D panels, for example.
This is not to say some donât have eye problems affecting their detection or enjoyment of VR but letâs not put it all on that, when the fakery involved in doing VR is still a WIP.
@PimaxUSA Thanks for the video today with Nordic and MRTV. Very excited about the pre-orders shipping this month! Just wondering if you could confirm if the 200 to ship this monthi is outside China? Or will it be 200 of the earlier Chinese pre-orders. All good either way, just asking to temper expectations. Cheers!
Thatâs what I want tbh, itâs clearly too early to give a timeline/launchdate. They should only say something when they are certain, so hopefully this is a step towards that.
Iâm not fully understanding the HMD battery life at over 3hours.
They had Crystal plugged into the PC at all times because the stand-alone functions are not turned on. How is that draining the battery? To gauge battery life all wireless functions would have to be turned on and the cable completely disconnected. That never happened at CES.
I am not so sure you should be looking to get your Crystal in the coming 2-3 months even if you did pre-order and are impatient as hell - chances are youâll miss out on vital improvements (talking of hardware here) to make it work as advertised. They donât seem to be there yet, as the simple example of the adjustment to the lens holders showed. For some adjustments you may be able to retro-fit them at home but I would guess that the majority would prove too difficult, and seeing Pimax offer a costly RMA process isnât something I would be too confident Pimax would voluntarily offer. Unless of course the issues are so glaring that they canât refuse it, but for all parts which do function, just not very well, you might be screwed.
Youâll simply end up being the unofficial part of their beta test - the part which paid the full price for a beta device and is kindly asked to suck it up if anything turns out to not be quite there yet.
@lolof1: in terms of eye-sight issues - I get your point, but the problem here is, if I take myself as an example, I didnât have any comparable issues with any of the og Vive, Rift, Rift S, Quest 1 & 2, Valve Index, HP Reverb headsets, but I had that issue a bit with the 8K and 5K+, but it is most prominent on my 8KX. So there is something Pimax applies to their lenses which doesnât work out great for me, which pretty much most other manufacturers donât. I agree that if only 1% of the population will have that issue, itâs essentially bad luck for them - same as with those whose IPD is below or above the bandwidth offered by the headset. But it seems itâs not just me, so if it is rather 5, 10 or 15% then this suggests it shouldnât be happening and why is this not happening with all the other brands.
Well I have 20/20 vision. The only thing is that very up close I canât see that sharp anymore like i used to (probably about < 30 cm from my eyes).
Eye strain/cross vision feeling is a very common reported problem with Pimax headsets. Several headsets out there have my eyes 100% relaxed (like the Index or the Varjo headsets), other donât, like Pimax. They canât simply hide behind âthere must be a weird underlying problem with that userâs eyesâ when other brands DO make headsets that donât yield this problem. They should just make better lenses. Fact is that (pretty much) nobody complains about eye strain regarding the Varjo headsets and with Pimax itâs quite a common problem.
No because it will mean nothing as based on past experience. Thereâs no reason to believe any dates considering the track record so the next time I want to hear even a hint is when pre-orders go live.
You would be one of the first to dismiss any deadline given, and not without reason, so whatâs the point?
