What Pimax news from CES?

I don’t feel I expressed surprise in my response. it was only shared historical info responding to a non KSer. Been here daily since Sept2017. Noithing surprises me

@SmallBaguette I think it’s more likely she was referring the the Portal. Which has also gotten some good responses. It seems to be closer to fruition than I’d thought.
I really would like some kind of update on the 12K though.

Actually I’ve read several people said that it was surely nice as a handheld. But as a VR device there needs to be done a LOT of work to get it there.

HI :innocent:

I tested the crystal in paris and had no overlapping issues whatsoever?
However, I have my left eye which has a vision problem.
I don’t see the problems you say and those of brad lynch.
Do not forget that all humans are not in the same boat with 3D, 25% of the world’s population have problems with 3D, can’t see it, or their eyes / brain perceive it badly

Aplushhhsss :innocent::+1:t2::+1:t2:

You can see the official timeline from Nordic announced on mrtv. (its very close to the time discussed right before the show).

Pretty certain it’s not the portal as the tweet came after they had already talked about the portal. Seems like something maybe not available to the public yet.

What video is this? I tried searching but saw nothing. Thanks!

Can’t Pimax just make a new official announcement?

Well, so those who don‘t see 3D anyhow may not notice it then. However, I am not sure we fully understand tüwhat the issue is: as you may have read, both MRTV and I saw that something was weird, off. He rather attributed it to the lenses having some kind of short-sighted prescription-like distortion allowing him to see sharp without wearing his glasses, while I (being rather far-sighted) felt it was some kind of stereo convergence issue not unlike the one I have on the 8KX till this day (played with the hardware & software settings of the 8KX for weeks before I could finally tune it down enough to last 1-2 hours in the 8KX, but need time to adapt my eyesight to normal when getting out of a session).
And now you see Thrill and others also mention it some kind of sensation which shouldn‘t be there.

So a number of people will experience it, and it will probably not be fixed by Pimax. Perhaps accommodation will help some of those affected by it (that helped me quite a bit, only was annoying when I used other headsets inbetween because that sort of reset my accommodation to some degree).

For me it means that I would have to expect this to be present in a headset I pay 1,600.- plus Lighthouse coverplate price for. I will definitely not buy it before having been able to test the final version as it is sold, because the fact that I am rather using the G2 than my 8KX tells me something about how much I don‘t really like to have that sensation again (and the constant need for tinkering with PiTool, etc.; another big factor).

Very well said @Axacuatl. That typical Pimax ‘something is off’ sensation really puts me off. BTW I say ‘typical pimax’ but I also experienced it with the Vive Pro2 and actually in some way also on my XTAL 3. That’s why I’m interested in the 12K, because other than that the XTAL 3 is pretty much perfect, but I hate that feeling that ‘something is not right’. Sebastian once described it as using someone else’s glasses and that pretty much described what I experience.

It seems the Crystal has some great potential and it seems that if they’d sell it as it is right now, quite some people will already love it. But for me to even consider going back to such small FoV (well compared to wide FoV) it really needs to be 100% perfect. So I’m really hoping Pimax can fix it but I totally agree, I think we should not expect that.

Nah. I share the sentiment that it’s probably better not to promise any timeline/dates anymore at all. What’s the use, it will only cause more disappointment, since pimax never makes the dates they set themselves.

When it’s ready, we’ll hear it. Until then we’ll just have to wait.

It would go something like ‘Hi Pimaxians, hope you all enjoyed CES as much as we did.

As more impressions on Crystal came in we realised more work was needed before shipping, so we will not be releasing any units next week as previously announced. When Crystal is ready we’ll update you further.

Thanks for your continued patients and share your disappointment not getting Crystal out when expected.’

Instead Pimax continue to take reservations, say nothing about delays over CES, come out with features still not working even when they released a READY chart weeks before and stated units are coming off the production line.

You can’t be ready, not ready, ready and leave people hanging. Surely?

Did Pimax meet anyone from the press like RoadtoVR or UploadVR? Surely they must of asked these questions?

Agreed. Although I’m sure they will post something like that, after CES, as pimax always loves to wait as long as possible haha

I suppose if Josh had to wait till day 2 of CES to see the 42PPI lenses then we might not be that far behind. :joy:

@mixedrealityTV Do you know what Kevin is referring to here? I tried looking through your recent videos but haven’t seen anything with “Nordic” in it or such. Thanks!

@pimaxusa what are you referring? I have no idea about it.

Can you elaborate, please?
