What Pimax news from CES?

If I want that, shure. Especially at the weekend xD

Cā€™mon, anyone who reads the posts of the 3 individuals itā€™s obvious the purpose is not related to being a customer but to create as much fear and doubt as possible within as many posts as possible.

Three points:
First, Pimax has actually been pretty good taking responsibility for their errors. They apologized publicly for being late with the original 8KX and took advice from members of this community. They also publicly acknowledged their issues with customer service and have worked hard to improve it.
secondly, they both learn from their mistakes ( e.g. the current silence on the 12K and a release date for it) and actively use criticism to develop their products, as witness the road show critiques that spurred action quickly.
Three. Pimax does deliver what they promise eventually. When you ride the leading edge youā€™re going to fall off now and then. Itā€™s fair to ask Kevin to behave in a professional manner. Itā€™s not fair to throw personal attacks accusing him of being lazy and malicious after yourselves making literally hundreds of posts of the same mean spirited criticisms generally based on issues already addressed or long past, painted over lightly with a coat of spurious affection for the company. Itā€™s the same basic ill will over and over. Itā€™s tiresome, disingenuous and unworthy of you.

Hmm ok. And why do you believe that is happening? Those 3 individuals get paid by the competition? Or they just want to see Pimax go bust? And thatā€™s why theyā€™re posting there? So theyā€™ll end up without wide FoV headsets? If so these 3 individuals must really hate wide FoV, right? Can you explain your thoughts on this please? Honestly would love to hear whatā€™s going on in your head.

My points were not directed at Pimax in general. My point was that Kevinā€™s first defence is always first to deny and/or even ridicule any user reporting problems and attacking his customers.

You do remember everything they promised with the 8k kickstarter? They promised a bunch of stuff but never delivered it. But I donā€™t care about that, let bygones be bygones.

Hey nobody said heā€™s lazy. But it is weird that a ā€œChief of operationsā€ lives on pretty much the other side of the world, where those operations take place. Wouldnā€™t you agree? Kind of makes it tough to oversee any operations. I mean how is he even supposed to do that? And instead he spends a lot of time here on the forum attacking the very people who end up paying his salary.

I put these few people on ignore so I donā€™t see their posts anymore, and the toxicity level of these forums dropped precipitously. It really transforms the experience of reading these forums, and I am not missing out on any useful information or insight by not seeing their posts.

Looking at the situation on these forums at a higher level, this is what I mean when Iā€™ve said that Pimax has very little control over itā€™s image due to not putting its resources into marketing. Kevin canā€™t really choose to just not counter misinformation that gets posted here which leads him into arguing with a small group of posters. Heā€™s kind of damned if he does, damned if he doesnā€™t. The situation isnā€™t really fixable at this level.

It would need to be fixed by a funded and functional marketing department taking company messaging in a different direction entirely at a higher level and would necessarily be part of a larger effort to improve Pimaxā€™s image. Itā€™s not a battle that can ever be won on a forum like this, but rather the problem is relying on forums to communicate important information to customers in the first place.

Thatā€™s nonsense. What kind of ā€˜misinformationā€™ did we even put out there? And even if we did, whatā€™s wrong with kindly correcting it, instead of throwing insults?

Pimax have their own official Forum it has a laughable 30k membership no doubt fake users. Nobody posts there not even Pimax. People post here because this is where the fun happens. Yes we sometimes poke fun at Pimax but we also post good stuff too. Iā€™m active keeping the Crystal chart up to date which people find useful but Kevin tried to delete.

I backed Pimax in the Kickstarter days and was excited to see the 12k announcement. But when 2021 turns into 2022, then 2023, you get skeptical part of me come out. Especially when weā€™re told itā€™s not that hard and most parts are off the shelf and just needs assembly. You wait while other headsets come out like the Pico4 with all the same functions (xr2) stand-alone for a fraction of the price. 12ks a no show at 2 CESes now and my skepticism hits new levels. More dates in 2023 are missed and the week Pimax are due to ship we find out the cable is still a work in progress.

At a time of a major launch where your Operations manager is a key figure heā€™s sat at home far away from the heat criticising Forum members on the internet not knowing if thereā€™s 1 or 2 batteries in the box. No wonder things arenā€™t going to plan.

Pimax needs all hands on deck, a leader, a COO whoā€™s on the job making the big decisions. Not three prototypes behind on another continent checking his emails.

I saw Josh clarified that your US team was not aware some of the demo units did not have all the upgrades that were implemented during the Roadshow which is very unfortunate for your team not to have been apprised of that.

On the 4090 not sure where he read that save maybe thought that was the case due to a couple of toxic redditors making it appear that way. When you had offered potential solutions.

Perhaps maybe 4 or 5 at times. However I know all 5 are at the core smart good people whom often bind due to how much they have in common but would likely not like to see that.

We should more focus on trying to get past our past misgivings and see were all on the same side at the end of the day.

Letā€™s stop all of the non-sense. In truth I should close this topic as it has gone completely off topic & ces is done.

There are some very dissatisfied members on these forums.

I suppose in their minds they have good reason to be.
I suppose in their minds whatever tolerance they may have had is right out the door due to, to them, a string of historically poor communication choices by PIMAX.

What results are these people being defensive themselves, drudging up the past as ammunition and using language in such a way that simply escalates things.

In my opinion, this is simply just exasperated by an official representative of PIMAX also playing a part in the volley of ammunition.

From my view, not only do several of these people who are dissatisfied use language in a way that helps at times to gas light, but I also see at times the language that the PIMAX representative uses as well. Which, in my opinion also contributes to the exchange.

I donā€™t think anyoneā€™s innocent here.

Donā€™t get me wrong, there are a few things that Iā€™m personally disappointed about here when it comes to PIMAX. I think I can understand to some degree the frustration by some of these community members.

I can also understand why the PIMAX representative takes such a position. Heā€™s human, like any one of us and isnā€™t it natural to defend yourself and your actions?

But as I see it, PIMAX is being officially represented by the words and actions of a representative here.
Those words and actions, in my opinion, must reflect the company as a whole.

While community members have the luxury to say and imply and criticize however they like, in my opinion a PIMAX representative doesnā€™t have such freedom because itā€™s more than just that representativeā€™s position, actions, words, feelings on the line.

What I would like to see is this:

  1. Community Members: State what you wish to state with a bit more tact and more neutral use of language. Understand that the PIMAX rep doesnā€™t have to be here, that heā€™s human, and we can all make missteps.

  2. PIMAX Rep: Donā€™t take defensive postures and use language that can be construed as turning the pointing finger around on the criticizer. Provide clarification and information in a neutral way. If you make any errors in statements/actions, simply rectify it by admitting what it was, provide re-clarification and apology.

It may not be that simple to you guys, but it COULD be that simple if all just step up.

Again, I think we all have more respect for people who admit they took a misstep and handled it in a positive way.

This is a community, however, if someone thinks you are not objective, I donā€™t care if they are wrong or right, they have to tell you. You canā€™t use ā€œIā€™m a customerā€ as an excuse.

What PimaxUSA wrote to you is criticism, but not insulting. Consider his opinion as much as anyone elseā€™s and move on, when you write to customer service you can expect a different attitude

Totally agreed, continuing will only result in more bickering. Enough of that. CES is over, thread can be closed @Heliosurge

There are even companies buying those products, not only VR nerds. The forum has examples (and we do not know all those customers, for sure). Even with all those flaws I find them outstanding. So I still wait for the 12K, need just to be patient.

Topic closed as CES is over. Letā€™s work together to ensure positive momentum.
