I guess that this logistic problem(or excuse) will continue till the pimax day(or whatever will be the name), in that event probably pimax will try to convince the backers to give up all the stretch goals including also the base stations, because it is not more convenient send the base stations to the backers. In facts the price of a single the base station in the kickstarter was just 75$ and now we all know that the price is much more…
Comfort kit preordered in January, when can i expect it to be sent? I didn’t get response on sales page.
@PimaxQuorra
Hehehe. If once the biggest Pimax supporter goes sour, you know things have really been bad.
Theyve had to work (or the opposite there of) hard to do that.
Hell hath no fury like the partner scorned.
(Also posted this in the X delivery thread)
All I can say is when boards get fully panelized you always know large scale production is starting. I’ve been in electronics production for a looong time. Fully panelized SMT certs are always the final fig leaf so to speak because the rest of the production is largely the same as existing production.
It isn’t any indication of delays, in fact it means the line is designed for production in the *thousands. All the recent prep revolves around creating large scale, not 10,100, 500 etc. but thousands of parts per month. Most of the assembly piece is the same as other production headsets so the ramp curve is high.
We have an overall limit on how many headsets we can produce per day so the limit on X is what percentage of that will be this SKU.
The demo units that are being constructed are used (for multiple purposes) but one of the primaries is to calc the assembly time compared to the other headsets so you can figure the effect on production yield. Assembly time calc is also a highly final stage item.
Bottom line is there is no new or further delay. Team is gearing up for this becoming the primary sku and most of the production. The next steps are the sku will slot into the general production.
Hahahahaha! Big joke!
There is no delay?
You and Sweviver said 8KX would be shipped from Dec. 18 2019 on Pimax day 2.
How many did 8KX shipped out?
@PimaxUSA @SweViver @PimaxQuorra
He’s referring to no further delays.
Correct, the total number of units scheduled to run through the general production line and the schedule are exactly the same, unchanged. The only debate was whether or not to ship the hand built ones that did not contain a change to the pcb. FWIW I’m very glad we didn’t do that.
Oh, sorry @PimaxUSA.
I hope it will be.
Everything on the X as far as planning etc. revolves around it being the flagship SKU.
That means incoming components, schedules for housing production, amount of line time scheduled in May for assembly, testing and much more revolve around an expectation that people well beyond the backers and preorders will be interested.
For the sake of we the backers i hope that you are right about that broad interest and that it generates the funds Pimax needs to stay afloat at least until we get our controllers.
Yes I am sure Pre Orders would have prefered pre order in March 2020 vs Oct 2019. 8k+ should have been the only pre order in Oct with 8kX being January/Feb 2020.
Okay so it sounds like most people are going to receive their headset in May. At the very least for backers & pre-orders
If I receive my 8K X and enjoy it, I will promote it widely and I think many others will too.
Anyway, we are here now and it’s 23th of April.
We’ll look forward hoping Pimax will eventually deliver.
I SERIOUSLY doubt an 8KX will be in my hands in May. Unfortunately I’m sticking with late June, July or possibly even August at the earliest. It would be nice wrong about this, but based on prior experience I just don’t think I am.
I’m an August boy already. Zero faith in PiSchedules.
Even now that I want to believe Kevin in his recent comments. The fact it’s in a comment and not the update already smells suspect.
Luckily I have a 5K+ so it’s not an empty handed ultra wait this time
I had an agreement with sales support to receive the 2 base stations from my KS pledge from french Marseille warehouse, then when they asked me to confirm my shipping address (again…) they tried to force me to accept a shipment from HongKong.
I have refused that and reminded there was an agreement for a shipment from Marseille and PimaxQuorra has even informed us a shipment of separate base stations will be sent to the Marseille warehouse, and the reply from sales support received 3 days ago is “we are confirming the logistics cost and transportation plan, which will take some time, when we have new progress, I’ll give you the latest news.”
Sales support is giving me this same answer for 40 days now, since I have opened a ticket to reclaim the base stations from my pledge.
On March 16th support told me “Now we are replenishing goods to Marseilles through air transportation.” but this never happened. Or maybe this was just the controllers + base stations bundles, so they have sent controllers bundles to Marseilles warehouse but not separate base stations…
WHY ?
It really sounds like Pimax makes no effort AT ALL to ship the KS base stations. They have received them from valve since about half a year now and we are still waiting for them. They send controller bundles to their EU warehouse but no separate base stations… WHY ?!..
Why haven’t you sent separate base stations to EU warehouses in the same shipments you sent controller bundles ?
After 40 days you still didn’t manage to organize a shipment of separate base stations to Marseille ??
Same for HMDs, while they have HMDs at the french amazon warehouse for sales, they don’t have HMDs to their own warehouses to send replacements for RMAs…
Looks like Pimax only cares new customers, who get their orders within a few days, while old customers or backers waiting for a replacement or for accessories paid 2 years ago will wait forever…
Tbf since they made that offer Covid 19 struck Europe’s delivery network like a bowling ball through pins. Which is prob why they tried to send it direct from Hong Kong and retract the offer…
Not saying they aren’t at fault totally. But it is a factor.
Not Correct. Pimax shouldn’t have offered Lighthouses as backed item. Pimax based prices on Valve’s original advertised OEM price of $50 or $60 US.
Pimax already stated they were going to ship Seperate LHes to start mid January. This is an issue of their creation by not following their schedule. This item has no engineering or R&D. No valid excuse for it not being done.
Not only that. As Lighthouses were a Kickstarter Item. The priority should have been to deliver KS Lighthouses to Backers first, then Backer Index Package upgrades, then Pre Order Index upgrades, then new purchases.
