Hi, can you expand on the details of these changes?
We are testing a much more accurate method of dialing in the software portion of the users IPD. This can have a profound positive effect in some cases and also opens up the door for the IPD setup portion of the PE to evolve.
Is there an ETA on that version of PiTool?
Internal versions are testing at the moment, no show stopping bugs detected yet in latest version. No ETA but if testing continues to be successful could release soon.
Thatās good to hear.
In that context it would be much appreciated, if we could get an update on the current progress regarding PiTool as was last done on October 23rd.
IPD help, backlight adjustability as well as a possible 90hz mode are what the 8KX needs if it wants to be competitive to the G2. Knowing the feasability and status of these features will go a long way in influencing imminent purchasing decisions.
Looks like you are also about ready to escape the FOV trap with me.
Asgards Wrath and most Oculus Gamea not working at all in PiTool 262 and above . I know what you mean.
I canāt reinstall Pitool every time i want to play oculus titles.
I know what you mean. That being said Revive could have similar issues. It wasnāt even abke to play AW on launch for about a week or 2 but Pimax could. So maybe we should all just blame Oculus for not sharing.
@PimaxUSA also the oculus shaky cam fix present in 262 and up. Hopefully some update on that in the next pitool.
I need to play Asgards Wrath on the 8KX.
Iāve been talking with the guy managing this, he said he they dont care if they are false or wrong data when I realized I did send some with the wrong Pitool settings, so this datasheet dosent mean much.
You can enter 195° fov with a G2 and they will be counted, same if you enter 70.
What about this then :
Iāve tried it myself and the G2 fov size looks almost exactly like my Quest 2. Itās clearly less than my Vive with the thin face foam. I.E. Less than potato mode.
Also when set to normal FOV the chart is correct for Pimax headsets. It also shows the variance at 18.2, so 150 ± 18.2. Because the FOV is variable it stands to reason these readings for Pimax would vary more than others.
The fov readout variance for other headsets are far smaller and affected by tightness of the headstrap and the IPD settings. For instance setting 3 on a Quest 2 yields the widest FOV which is what you see most of the time.
There you are baiting the Trap again.
Mustā¦resā¦istā¦
problem is though this is usually the result. (at least with oculus games)
Wow i also love the brightness and almost no glare, colors a big plus tooā¦
I cant wait till i get my hands on itā¦
Indeed need more accurate tools then subjective measures where folks enter data manually.
Iām super intrigued by how much detail and color and black the g2 could have potentially over the 8kx, but going from large fov (yeah I have a lucky head that can take large fov fine) to potato fov setting to simulate standard fov hmd really makes things hard. Almost as if like being there vs looking out through window.
Someone make a wide fov high resolution oled hmd already and end this dilemma
For me 8kx with sat +2 and -1 Brightness have superior colors, especially I see huge difference during night races in ACC or PC2 and in deep space of Elite Dangerous. Munch wider color palette and colors are way more saturated than for instance P5k+ or any other 1st gen LCD HMD Iāve tested. Really like it and dont need more
Setting 3 is by far the most narrow FOV, you can literally see the edges of the panels. People were measuring 80 degrees in software. Regardless, FOV may be hugely important to some people⦠but colors, ease of setup, not needing lighthouses⦠all major improvements, and at half the cost. Not bagging on the pimax hmds, just saying. Personally the FOV cannot justify using my 5k+ ever again for roomscale when the quest 2 looks better, is wireless with VD, and massively cheaper (5k is still a must for sims and seated experiences in general).
Somebody with a pimax 8kx tried the hp reverb g2 and found the hp reverb g2 much better.See this video
Someone will, but it will be Pimax.
Saturation can be adjusted?
Also i agree turning brightness down -1 is what makes Virtual Desktop fonts readable. Too bright whites otherwise and alot of āwhite crushā
I thought this would matter to me but it turns out it doesnāt.
I was adding up the time spent since getting the 5k+ and the money wasted on extra stuff (used vive for basestations and controllers, overpriced knuckles from ebay, 3d printing, 5k+ that is cracked and has little resale valueā¦etc) and I realize its all for that extra FOV.
I dont think its worth itā¦but then I remember how good Big FOV is and the trap pulls me back in.
This is what I call the āFOV Trapā. It evades all logic.
BTW the only room scale game I can totally say FOV is totally worth using is Asgards Wrath. And maybe Arizona Sunshine.
