thinking about this… it more than likely wont work on the latest piplay as it does not really use the steam compositor but the older 1.1.92 piplay may work as it does. I will reinstall 1.1.92 onto my 2nd test machine later on and then test them both to see if either one uses it
No way. It doesn’t. We want an “option” to enable steamvr motion smoothing. An option. I’m waiting very intently for 180fps brainwarp.
This is asynchronous reprojection in new name?
I can’t find the reprojection option in developer menu.
Wish I could test this… Keep getting this:
Review regarding motion smoothing from steam user:
"Just tried the new Motion Smoothing feature (did not get the 306 error on my end). Works like a charm in some games. Others, not so much. I was having issues getting above 50fps in Asseto Corsa (with a 1070, don’t ask why). Because I was missing a bit less than half the frames, the frame interpolation managed to give me an almost seamless 90fps!
But like I said, some other games will still have trouble if you are too low on the fps. Let’s say Subnautica. There was a LOT of frame distorsion (not the lens type. TRUE distorsion) since I had trouble getting above 30. This could cause nausea quicker in some situations.
Overall, pretty decent. If you can get at least 45fps, you should be good to go."
If you check the steam comments. Most other people are getting the same error.
Yeah I did. Tried uninstalling Natural Locomotion but it made no difference, hope they can get it straightened out soon.
You have wireless, don’t you?
It doesn’t work with wireless yet unless you have a Vive pro.
Nope wired up and it doesnt work. Also Checked and I don’t have OpenVR Input Emulator either which can also cause the issue.
Working now apparently Uninstalling Natural Locomotion still left behind a DLL.
@Heathen, Chubchub: Looks like you both still have a driver_00natural.dll hanging around:
Wed Oct 17 2018 21:37:56.909 - Loaded server driver 00natural (IServerTrackedDeviceProvider_004) from d:\Games\Steam\config\00natural\bin\win64\driver_00natural.dll
Wed Oct 17 2018 23:37:15.038 - Loaded server driver 00natural (IServerTrackedDeviceProvider_004) from E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Natural Locomotion\driver\00natural\bin\win64\driver_00natural.dll
Can you have a look in the respective folders to see if it’s still actually there? Double-check that Natural Locomotion is uninstalled from Steam - I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with its uninstallation process. (Did you have SteamVR running when uninstalling?)
Thanks!
Fallout 4 VR now runs great! Forrest still runs like trash though
Dude you should do a video with fo4vr with the new feature. That’d be cool to see on yt.
I fear this will not work on the Pimax.
If it does this would totally transform the experience for most.
33 posts and yet we know it doesn’t work with Pimax.
I keep reading that there could be issues with the Vive wireless module. Anyone tried it with TPCAST?
Same… 20 characters
Should work perfectly fine with TPCast due to it’s implimentation.
But it wont work with out Primax headsets. Even if it totally transforms my Vive - I can’t see myself using my Vive for one minute in the future unless everything I read from the three testers is completely wrong - and I doubt that.
If all this is done on the GPU, why would this not be suitable for the Pimax?
It seems the Rift and WMR headsets have their own methods so they don’t need it but the Pimax surely can benefit from this, right?
ok got home, launched steam and there was an update on steamvr beta. installed that.
innitially i was unable to get the motion smoothing to kick in as even though i run piplay at 3.0 and my fav game Elite Dangerous in VR Ultra, my FPS was high enough for the new feature to not start! so i forced it
i did it by changing StreamVR application rendering from 100% to 500% as show here
and leaving all my other setting alone forced the motion smoothing to kick in. you can see that the render per eye in steamvr is showing as 5525x6803 - yet i smoothly took off from a station cube and left without any lag that i could see. also as a sad side note, the ghosting is still there
but if i tried this 500% in steamvr i would usually have killed my game so im quite impressed.
I have tried this on both 3.0.0.85 piplay and also on 1.1.92 - both seemed to work fine.

Nope… you don’t even have the option in SteamVR. It should look like this:
When motion smoothing kicks in, it says “Motion Smoothing: On”
