Ahhh then I think I get what you mean. The name “grip button” might be a bit missleading. Doesn’t mean it is for gripping things, just the button is placed in the grip. I might be wrong on that one though.
Would be the opposite of getting satisfied for me, so definetly not all backers. More movable part and more connectors = less durability. I prefeer two different sets of controllers any day.
Totally agree, I think this is a must.
How about a thumbstick mod for the touchpad? It worked well for the HTC Vive Wand.
There are both stick and trackpad is convenience. If pimax will do that, the thumb stick should be stay outside and stay below the trackpad (think of ps4 controller). This position can move the thumb finger easier than placing in same horizontal and may the trackpad can be bigger than the mixed reality controller.
Mixed reality can use both walking and warping in gunheart (can use stick for walk)
I agree, enough wiith the never ending wish list that just adds to the delays.
I backed the project but only got the headset. Looking at these makes me want to add those to my order. Is that still possible? I understand it wouldn’t be at kickstarter prices, but would love to have them arrive alongside the headset
In steam vr the grip button of the wand controller is to catch/release objects; with knuckles, you really catch and release objects with your hands.
No, Xunshu wrote that the working prototypes are expected only for Q3.
Nice design, now let‘s hope that the interiors will meet the nice packaging - it sounds a bit as if they only worked on the form so far, which probably is okay, but recalling the feeble Pimax copies of the Vive wands I will hold my breath until we see them in action… how the buttons feel, if they are crisp or rather wobbly, etc…
The outer arches do not displease me aesthetically, but people will hit their faces every time they approach the controller to point a gun, tighten a bow, protect themselves in boxing, bite food … and it will add weight.
I remember the people who ate in “Job simulator”… and beat their teeth with the sensor circle of the wands. This could be much worse, that angle is a nose breaker.
Imagine the scenario, @deletedpimaxrep1 : you are surprised by a zombie and with a swift movement you bring the gun to your face to aim at his head… and you fall to the ground, from the tremendous blow in your mouth or nose. Very embarrassing to explain.
I would remove everything that does not hold it to the hand, as Valve does. Actually, we are not going to see those arcs.
Will the user be able to use both types of controllers at the same time? I can see myself using the touch pad with one hand and the thumb stick in the other. I would consider buying another set of controllers if I could mix them.
I have a vive and the touch pad is great for menu navigation but a pain for using it to use for non-teleport locomotion.
The way I see it, the Thumbstick version is missing a system button.
indeed the ring need to be smaller, let see you use an bow and Arrow, you will hit your face or your vr headset!
I think it looks very beautiful but not very practical.
-The ring with trackers will be in the way when putting your hands close to your face.
-When putting your hands together it will be hard not to smash both rings against each other.
-when using a 2handed sword in a game for example the ring of your bottom hand controller will constantly be pressed against your top hand wrist. That can’t be comfortable.
-the ring is attached to the controller in only one spot. The bottom. It might be easy to break. Previous model had half a ring behind the hand attached at the bottom and the top. Much better in my opinion.
You see where the strap is that holds the controller to your hand right. Half a ring just behind that with sensors is enough for accurate tracking. It would have two connecting points. Top-bottom. And it would never be in the way.
No matter how beautiful it looks, bc it really is gorgeous… From a practical point of view i have to say i still preferred the previous model.
Thank you for the update. It’s definitely going in the right direction
Even though i hope this isn’t the last design, it’s still pretty good work.
Yes, cool but not too practical.
Looks cool but that thing around the controller is too big.
It can be used as a control, entirely separate from things that would require you to open and close your hand, since you also have the capacitive sensing from opening and closing your hand. Consider it a, potentially, useful extra option.
I have to agree, as much as I like the look of the design, that ring is going to be really impractical.
Maybe if you have a semi-circle coming from the front of the trackpad section, curving forward and down to meet the bottom of the grip? You could keep an elastic strap on the side to keep the controller secured to your hand when you let go of the grip. Something like this…
A) It looks like something out of Halo, and as such looks cool.
B) It can lay flat when you’re not using it, taking up less space.
C) It can have plenty of sensors placed on both sides which will give great tracking.
D) You won’t hit yourself in the face when you bring the controller up close to ‘eat’ or draw a bow.
You all seem to experts on something that you have not tried nor even exists except on paper. give it a chance.
But it does exist, you can see it being held in the video. Part of the reason this community exists is to provide ideas and feedback, which is what we’re doing. Ultimately it’s Pimax’s decision as to how the controllers will look, but we are entitled to express our opinions, be them positive or negative.
