I couldn’t say if focus 3 controllers are sold separately or if can be used outside of focus(likely not)
What really rubs me the wrong way is when I think about the money pit that jumping on the Pimax bandwagon has cost me.
Back when the index controllers released they weren’t selling to Pimax had given us the choice to give up on their controllers as they were delayed, and they would have sent me my base stations and index controllers.
I chose to stick with Pimax because I really believed that their sword sense controllers would be more comfortable than index controllers because they were taking the best of bouth the touch and the index and mashing them together.
So I stuck with PImax and paid 2x the money to buy the INnex controllers off of Ebay.
2 years later i’m greeted with this email saying F you we decided not to make these controllers after all.
If they would have just focused on the sensible controller and not the non-sense or just told us outright that we’re not gonna make a joystick version I would have just gotten my Index controllers from them.
So this move by PImax really freakin hurts.
That Vive Focus 3 is looking pretty tempting not gonna lie.
Like I said before pimax should make both syles if controllers in sense and senseless. In non sense they should still make the stick version and ditch that awful track slot. With the extra buttons.
Since arcade/multi user environments not likely overly friendly to sense.
Agreed, plus most of the finger tracking stuff of the index is a gimmick and not useful in games anyway.
we all know what index is for. the ability to do a slowly raised middle finger for maximum insult in virtual world. well, before quest 2 arrived with hand tracking.
Thinking that has been my firm view from the get-go (EDIT: I.e.Rift DK1 days, before we had any hand trackers (other than the Razer Hydras some had - fun anecdote: “The Gallery” series was kickstarted in that era, with a focus on handtracking, even when those rare devices was all that was ready-ish-ly available :7)), frankly, and each new proffered lump of plastic filling the user’s palm, and imposing fly-by-wire interaction, just reinforces it.
I had missed this release. O look Vive went ABXY and sticks.
lol, how’d you miss that?
If it were priced more consumer friendly i’d probably have one by now
Dunno, a lot of multi-tasking of late. just slipped by i guess.
Hmm, now this statement from @PimaxQuorra leaves me with a glimmer of hope. But not miuch
I just watched @VoodooDE unboxing of the sword and when he said “it looks like there’s buttons missing” it got me thinking. Even if I forced my self to use the trackpad for movement. Then i’d have no buttons.
No I refuse to use this crap… i think i’m gonna have to refund. Theres just no way i’m going back to having to fudge all of my favorite games to make believe buttons.
I cant even imaging playing Asgards Wrath like that.
Just no. What the hell were they thinking.
Funny thing is I would gladly trade those 4+5 finger sensors for a joystick and buttons any day of the week. What the hell are you going to do with your fourth and 5th finger anyway?
besides
Downside iirc Vive focus doesn’t support steam?
Pretty sure the Focus 3 works with Steam. It does have it’s own “App store” for the standalone stuff though.
Biggest issue I saw is that you can’t charge the battery on the headset like the Quest 2 can, so regardless if you connect via USB or their Wifi for PCVR, you are stuck with whatever is in the battery. You can purchase extra batteries and swap them, but you will be interrupted. Battery life is 2 hours ish if I remember from MRTV’s stream.
In Germany you already have the feeling in the country that customer friendliness is not the top priority, but the Chinese top everything! In what did you sink my Sword Sense Pre Order Dollar?
Early review but suggests you might be able to have it plugged in while in use(12v port) or charge batteries outside of headset.
Does cite controller ergonomics still not good.

pimax update today :
" Sword Sense Controller Update
Please stay tuned! The update will be reveal shortly."
i don’t understand…
the swords sense will come out or not?
So I went back to the latest youtube video from Pimax t to get more info on the swords(non-sense), which I skipped last time because of total disinterest)
I noticed something odd, Listen to @PimaxUSA in this clip from the last Pimax Stream at 36:19
. He says something really odd for someone who claims he had no idea they were thinking about cancelling the sword sense.
“The books not closed on it, but this one (the non-sense) will be the sword controller for now, but in the future it is something that may happen at some point”
Is this something you would say about a product that was definetly supposed to be coming out without question?
Look at the body language…he’s kind of fidgeting alot, stumbling through his words…something was definetly up.
@Heliosurge , @VRGIMP27, @dogbite isn’t this suspicious?
If I would have watched this video to the end when it aired I would have created this topic last month.
The writing was on the wall.
Also listen to @SweViver try to explain why we shouldnt care about only having a trackpad and one button. Comparing us to console gamers here
Totally forgetting that I like to play oculus games through pitool or revive and that this makes playing games from the oculus library like my favorite Asgards Wrath pretty much impossible.
Agreed. Even with ABXY the Steam version of In Death is awkward on Index where as the Oculus version matches control perfectly with Touch. Even with sticks the Sword would be cumbersome with the missing button. Remapping is such a pain.
It is kind of silly as gamers do not stare at the controllers to hit buttons. But as I know what mode shifting is will reserve judgement as mode shifting creates multiple buttons.
Unfortunately controller parity might create issues as you cited from IC playing Oculus games. Though extra buttons might be able to simply be mirrors of other buttons if not mappable as different functions in steam.
Still a miss to not have at least a senseless stick. Maybe best to wait on the next update as things are often vague.
If the Razer Hydra could be made stable the belt bucket hack could be interesting.
No loss for me as I am quite happy with my ICs.
