I think you should be BANNED from plugging this in until you have done some more videos on other games so we can see the difference, :slight_smile:

I think the problem is that he does not actually like or play Elite so its difficult for him to do sensible tests.

It’s about time to you create an account, fly from one station to another (add me as a friend, by the same name) and i would like to ask once again a favor - Can you test X Rebirth VR ? It’s a space game as good as Elite, but more in the arcade genre.

If you loan me your 2080 Ti and a headset, I’ll be glad to shoot the ED video. :laughing:

Otherwise, @SweViver, I recommend the training demos, especially the exit the space station and dock at another mission, the land on a planet mission, or even the basic fly around in an asteroid field. All we need to know is framerate and how readable are the cockpit instruments (particularly on the 8K). If you’d like, I could probably do a quick video run through, with suggestions, and you could just try to replicate it in VR.

SweViver, please test 8K on Project Cars with the following settings:

1.Pitool 1.75 at 60% SteamVR and set Ultra on almost everything except shadow, reflection, MSAA.

Basically, see what is the optimal MAX performance than you can get out of 2080ti with Project Cars and still run at 40-45fps (playable under re-projection). 20 cars under rain <–try this!!

  1. Test this on MOVIES on 8K as well.
  2. Test 5K Plus on Project Cars as well under the same scenario.

Forgot to say THANK YOU for a great guide :clap:, waited for that video for a long time, and as an X-Plane simmer I was relieved to see that there is some hope for it with Pimax HMD.

In a lighter tone:
I’m just “sad” that until I finally upgrade my machine (the last year) to be on par with yours, you jumped ahead to a new level :muscle:.
So in the near future I won’t be able to use your tests as a base line :weary:
