That’s advice for monitors. Thanks, but doesn’t help. I’m just incredibly frustrated the game doesn’t support canted, and that PP looks unsharp - wherever you go, whichever app you use.
If PP would look sharp, and not have this subtle blur to it, given I put higher Res in than without it, everything would be fine.
I got the horsepowers to race the cart with just 3 wheels, but it’s no use if the picture is blurry in PP whatever you do.
I was waiting for my 8KX and hoping it would arrive in time because of this game.
The PP blurring in the X also reaches a new dimension with XPlane.
no difference to the 8k +. But Laminar Research thinks Valve should take care of it with SteamVR. Valve have it in his hands.
Also, just out of curiosity, what platform did you guys purchase the game from? Steam or directly from Origin? A number of people are saying it runs better on Origin, but it’s likely not to change anything for non Rift headsets. Maybe if it’s run through PiTool instead of SteamVR? I’ll order the Origins version to test this out later this evening.
I just ran it for my first time and i get it, the blurriness jo is complaining about is not from the parallel projection and I’m confident most if not all headsets are dealing with the same muddy quality.
it’s clearly a combination of TAA which cant be disabled and the frame pacing problems giving a kind of motion blur/double image similar to what you’d see with smart smoothing but of course smoothing is disabled and fpsvr shows full framerate.
this one is going to require a patch for sure or at least some savvy ini/console tweaking to sharpen it up, until then we all are getting the PSVR experience
K I saw the stuttering for myself last night. fpsVR was always at 75fps (Average 74.7 or something) even with lower SS/settings…but it looked good with parallel projections at the SteamVR recommended numbers.
I noticed that lag in Pimax headsets just look like framdrops, where other headsets I can “feel” the framedrops, so it’s not too annoying, but would like it smoother.
Playing on Rift S (with a GTX 1080). No problems here feels great!
For the very first boot up start it in 2d mode and change to VR via “Toggle VR” when you are in the first mission.
To anyone having issues with the Rift S , I can confirm that playing it through the Epic launcher is 1000 times better than using steam VR. The choice is either an unplayable experience or feeling like you’re actually flying a tie-fighter. I know which one I chose. refund that crap. I can’t imagine why there is no native oculus support on steam.
it did feel better on the valve index(also because off the exellent sound off the index)
And also because off the higher brightness off the valve index…Explosions etc have a alot more impact with the higher brightness
Cant wait till my hp reverb g2 arrives and see how it looks!
I set a custom VR graphics setup to balance performance and visuals, sitting in a Practice session and watching FPSVR. I noticed the shadow option was very heavy and I set it to Low.
Other options really depend on what responses I saw, some medium, some high, a couple of Ultra ones. If anyone can’t find satisfactory settings I can go and check them.
I’m not seeing any particular game-related blurriness, but some stutter here and there - certain parts of the cockpit and near large ships. I’m still using an older Nvidia driver and not the latest Squadrons one, if that makes any difference.
@JoCool I didn’t get a mouse cursor in VR but I was able to get the mouse to select certain options that that HOTAS wouldn’t eg when in the Social screen. Kinda weird. I used a combo of HOTAS and keyboard that worked OK for me.
Findings from general play and then trying to get a co-op session going with a friend.
Practice and story mode work so far
Fleet Battle training quits the game after the first cutscene where the ship takes off. End up back in SVR.
Fleet Battle solo works OK
Dogfight multiplayer also quits the game after the first cutscene where the ship takes off. End up back in SVR. My friend in pancake did not experience this and he continued into the match with others.
Edit: Fleet Battle Multiplayer works OK, although it did crash once after my ship was destroyed
