steam sale is on for Star Wars: Squadrons
40% off
Wait does this mean we can turn PP off?
No, it does’t.
It does mean that MSAA can be applied instead of TAA or FXAA and it should perform better whilst suffering a decrease in quality with regards to multiple light sources.
not sure I follow.
So I can use real MSAA and it will decrease my quality with light sources?
Anyone has an 8K+ Running Star Wars squadrons? Which Settings do you use?
Performance is ok but the Stars are blurry and no mouse Pointer in VR. Even After newest Update…
My settings:
Pitool 262: Render RES. 1.0 / PP on / 90HZ / all other turned off.
SteamVR: 180% to geht an acceptable sharpness.
In Game Settings all high.
Thats your problem
Use shadows medium/high
Lighting low
All else try high
Pitool 1.0, normal fov, steamvr ss 60-70%
And play with the vr render scale in-game but it requires restarts
Any time you use PP On, the resolution shoots upwards in SteamVR settings, so you should try to downsample, not supersample.
Try that for now
Not quite.
A forward render as opposed to a deferred render allows for the use of real MSAA, yes.
But it comes with a performance cost for scenes using multiple light sources, hence the need to set lighting to low to use the forward render option.
Thank you!
Thats the Information i needed. Set steam vr to 60% and increase VR Rendering Scale ingame to 140 make a huge difference in sharpness.
Best regards
I wasnt able to do that high on the 8k x and keep 75fps yet.
I did 50-60% steamVR and kept it 100-110% in render resolution in game
pitool 1.0 normal fov.
Try the training session or play with AI. Thats how you’ll stress the game and see if you get any fps dips.
Make sure to check fpsVR
Wondeful! Now that they fixed all the VR issues, I can finally play this game.
i still dont think they fixed all the issues. The stars look much better now, but the performance with PP On still lags. They need to fix it so it doesn’t need Parallel Projections at all.
I am getting stuck at the dialog to log into my EA account. I do not think I have any (and want any). While I can simply close the dialog in the pancake version and continue into the game, I cannot figure out how to close it in VR and I cannot switch to non-VR mode either. Anone has an idea how to skip the sign in?
I do, I have to try some more settings but last time I used 1.25 Pitool and 100% Steam and auto ingame.
110hz with PP and SS on.
Stars looks better now with the last patch but they could be better actually.
When the game starts hit ESC on the keyboard right when you see a massage about connecting to server or something like that. f you see the login dialog, you are to late and a restart is required.
Thanks! Saved 40% there.
It was on my wishlist but for some reason I’ve not gotten a notification from steam about it.
bought at launch and refunded same day due to bugs. Looks like it paid off to wait as 40% off now, along with a patch to address performance and rendering issues
I found out Volumetric Quality was giving me an issue. Lowering it to Medium fixed ALOT and it looks incredibly crisp for me now.
I had Fleet Battle Training that would crash on startup also but once i dropped it to medium, it worked as well.
If you have any issues with framerate, stutter, or crashes, try to lower Volumetric Quality to Medium also fellas.
And just to recap what I’ve found that works for me so far with this latest update v3.0 is as follows:
Pimax 8K X / RTX 3090 / 9900KS
Pitool 1.0, Normal FOV, PP On, SteamVR SS 60%
In-Game Rendering Resolution 110-120%
Lighting Quality Low
Volumetric Quality Medium
Shadows Medium
Most else High
Tested in AI/Practice Fleet Battles and it stuck 75fps Native
Was able to do the same setting as above for only lighting and shadows and everything else on Ultra and get 75fps on my 3090 (MSI Ventus OC) resolution 100%
