Should Pimax send their HMD to YouTubers now?

People with 100k to millions of followers can fu**ing afford it. This practice with sending free stuff is just bullshit. Moreover: You can’t trust reviews of people who only report about products they get for free.

dont matter what we think or how we feel about it, it just works

10 units reserved not in production as ones being shipped to backers.

0 affect on shipping as these “10” are for their use. No affect to anyone & not any of our business or concerns on what they use them for.

It’s really simple.

Great, let them use it as they should to continue to make the HMD better before they ship them to US THE BACKERS FIRST then the youtubers later… like the promise by Robin… You’re right, it’s really that simple. I think the poll speaks for itself… can you imagine if this same question was posted on Kickstarter? The fact is, because this was a kickstarter project funded by the backers… understandable there’s been some delays so again, Pimax does in sense owes it to the backers to make us their priority.

It think sending out a few headsets a week or two before public release to some youtubers to get the word out and build hype would be great. Its the best way to get publicity, way more effective then spending money on creating an AD.

Here are the youtubers I’d send it to :
PewDiePie: Dude has over 66M subs and has a Vive, getting his reaction on how much better the Pimax is would be great
LinusTechTips: Another big youtuber, already tested the early prototype, great to show how much better the Pimax is now
Node: Make VR youtube videos all the time and have a large fallowing . Having them use a Pimax instead of a Vive in all their videos from now on would be great.

Pimax has thousands of units ahead to build (to the backers) then who knows how many pre-orders. You’re correct in that they have plenty of time… plenty of time to send them out for review once they are much closer to an actual consumer finalized product. Heck, they’re still refining the software right now. And already look at the confusion we have right now with a limited amount of reviewers! Do you really think that’s going to be helpful to Pimax once the consumer model is ready to hit the streets? I don’t think so… I also wonder, once Pimax releases a few hundred to a thousand units… how many more issues will be uncovered that Pimax should fix for the consumer release? God bless SweViver and his many hours of testing… but he’s only one person!!!

Im sure they will do roadshows soon and as soon as the pre orders starts they may start marketing it also.

Yes & “production” units built for shippimg will.

Glad you understand that the production units being made the 230 & ramp up in volume will be backers first. Their reserve units being used as they see fit. :beers::sunglasses::+1::sparkles:

Glad someone understands this idea is not about inmediately now but in the near future.

But as has been mentioned too many times. Pimax is not known for sending review samples to youtubers. But am sure if on a trip would likely do a demonstrstion for local media be it E-Media or local press.

What people need to realize is the units they have reserved are not part of the shipment batches and thus not part of the estimate units being made. Whether they are used for demonstrations, internal testing or sent out to a business partner that may need it (Aglass comes to mind) or any business related decision. Is not something we should be thinking will affect backers receiving their headsets as production & shipping is in process.

lets say they do, which they probably wont be doing, send out a dozen units to youtubers, its not going to back up your orders much or at all considering the units they can and will be making. The amount of sales they can do by sending a free unit to lets say a youtuber with a million subs, even if 5 percent of those views get hype and buys a pimax 5k+ or 8k thats still a shit ton of people. The influence youtubers + twicher have are freaking amazing. Dont forget with success comes more money for R and D which can make the 5k and 8k better.
