Who should get “what they want , when they want”?

If u haven’t noticed there’s only like 2 people begging for constant updates, while the rest of us wait patiently and chuckle at how impatient some people can be.
When Pimax has some actual info to share, I’m sure they will do so. Until then relax… They are a small team and I hope all of them are busy working on the development of this product. I don’t understand why people are pushing for Pimax to hire more people for PR purposes… I want them to spend the money on product development and that’s it.

So because I bought and backed the Pimax8k, I should get everything from them I ask for? I go to a restaurant and order dinner, so I should be given updates every five minutes where my steak is simply because I paid for my dinner and I should get what I want when I want it?
Like I said “They will never understand any reasoning that doesn’t involve them getting what they want when they want it.” No point in even trying to get people who think like that to understand.

Let’s try it another way : if we trust Pimax at 100% why should we beg them for constant updates
when there’s no missed deadline?

I wonder who is replying to this thread wasting their time writing about not wanting updates from pimax.
I do not see what is the problem asking for monthly updates.
Pimax had pr ppl repeatedly replying to our questions during the kickstart campaign .
I guess that was convenient during the campaign ,but after is not convenient anymore?
I backed for both 8k and 8k x, and I wish updates as backer.
U do not want updates?
just do not reply to this thread instead of actually replying to the tread complaining about us and our request of updates from pimax
or
make your own forum thread asking to pimax to continue to not have updates , same as now.
How screwed up is that we backers have to actually deal with fonts on a pimax forum, opposing updates ?
That doesn’t sound right. Sounds like these fonts works for who has somehow problems in giving updates or what else ?

Are u guys afraid that actually more backer would ask for updates reading this post to the point where u have to jump in and oppose that?

You are right; they accuse us of disturbing and believing us the center of the universe, when they are the ones who believe they have the right to do so to sponsors who only ask for one line of text per week.
I know that there are many people who would like to receive news. Perhaps they are inhibited by so much unjustified attack.
In my group, everyone wants to know news. Even friends who are interested in buying ask me.
The funny thing is that precisely I do not care too much, but it is very unpleasant to see how people are attacked for daring to ask for such a simple thing.

I’m ok with update when there is actual progress to report.
Otherwise things going to get real boring trying to find something to report for the sake of reporting.
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the 8k as well but I calm myself with other hobbies…

I am a restaurant owner and a chef as well.
When ppl hurrying and asking how long for their food I always tell them “properly cooked food takes time, if you want it now it’s going to be raw, if that’s what you want”

For my part guys I accused you of nothing, you’re maybe a little impatient but that is totally your right. On the 6 kickstarter I’ve backed monthly update were the norm, more than that the exception. My point was never to have no update at all. I’m arguing on the topic of this thread “weekly bulletin is needed”
Can we settle this if we say that a monthly update on average is the minimum to ask from Pimax?
Just to be clear : I want a update on the first week of December after one month Pimax should have made enough progress to at least give some “proof” of advancement to backers.
I do not want to rush Pimax, as long as they make a product without failures.
If I receive my pimax in April, I may even think that they have given themselves too much haste.
But if you have ppl waiting a long time, you will surely tell them that the food is almost ready, or offer them something to entertain themselves with.

There is nothing wrong when asking for some regularly update/info.
We call this transparency which they offer in their latest excuse letter.

There’s a difference between asking, and demanding weekly updates OVER AND OVER like a spoiled brat and then claiming to be a victim when you’re called out for it. It’s the latter that qualifies a person as thinking they are the center of the universe. And it’s that kind of post that puts pressure on Pimax to spend time and resources doing something they do not need to do - which is why the level-headed among us are annoyed.

I put weekly for a not too long term. We must also bear in mind that in theory in two months they are supposed to start shipments.
It would also be to maintain interest in the forum.
I’m saying that this is a kickstarter and people need to assume a few things.

Assume that the probability that the initial deadlines will be missed, maybe by at month or two. If they do hit the targets then you might not be so disappointed.

But also assume if they do hit the target then what you are getting won’t be perfect.

Demanding regular updates is like asking a girlfriend to give you weekly reports of her period status…Sure you can ask for it…but it doesn’t hide the stupidity of the request…When there is actual news to be had, it will be announced for good or for bad…

Their response regarding this request will (dis)prove my theory that “apology letter” was just a damage control because on reddit information appeared about Pimax team member saying demo units run @75Hz . They didn’t want this to hurt campaign because people assume it’s screens refresh rate limit, so they just use that to say screens can run @90Hz but headset is not in fact stable at operating on that frequency.
They had no plans to be transparent, this(Hz issue) info is not on KS update page(but on bottom of main page coincidence?), nor fact that prototypes V1, V2 use 2xHDMI 1.4, which can’t carry signal at 1440p@90Hz per eye, nor that V3 use 1x DP but at DP1.2 speeds, which is 21G/s very close to theoretical max capacity on 2x1440p@90Hz .
Facts so far: DP 1.4 not a solution to bandwidth issue HDMI cables had, because chip used
on HMD(ANX7530) support DP 1.2(speeds) only.
90Hz is not proven stable on any prototype so far, but used as advertising on KS.
Every screen is utilized 80%, and stretched ever 200FOV so even tho 4K per eye in theory, in practice 1440P upscaled (with artifacts inherited to technique used)x 0.8 x 0.5, since they claim ~2x higher FOV comparing to gen 1 HMDs (Rift, Vive). So if you expect this to be Gen 2, oh well, good luck.
Also known issue, they render at res close to 4K per eye(Steam VR screenshot) probably to mitigate pixel loss when doing correction for lenses. So if it ends up scaler is used just to mitigate DP1.2 limit but not reduce actual GPU workload it would be massive bombshell. It would turn out, 8K and 8K X have same min GPU requirement(1080TI or higher). That can also explain why no real benchmark so far(with FPS counter), nor GPU intensive games demoed.
I now expect to be attacked by fanboys, for stating known facts xD
They didn’t have working proof of concept(90Hz 2x1440p 1DP on GTX 1070 with solid FPS(45+)) prototype and grabbed 4.2+M $, people had a lot of faith and hope… And little real information about product state in present, not a marketing wish-list specs.
