Received 8K-X, couple of questions

1. They are interchangeable and fit interchangeably.

3. I have tested the recommended Club3D 3m cable with 8KX, and i can confirm snow / sparkles. I tried to extend the usb cable with a 3m usb3 extension cable and it seems to draw too much current possibly too high cable resistance . The screen flickers and losses the base stations randomly.

Also, the DP ports on the GPU does matter. I get sparks when I plug my 5k+ in to the “secondary” port.

On my old GPU (ROG Strix 1080Ti OC) I had lots of issues getting the headset recognized in PiTool when using 5m extension cables until I swapped DP ports so my 5K+ was on the primary port. True story…

Its all about adding the 60Hz mode to the firmware, which will be done soon. The units support it of course. I will remind the engineers to add it in the next FW version

There’s probably not that much thought behind it. The 64 and 72 Hz modes on the 5K+ were also afterthoughts (or requests from the community) as far as I remember…?

While I totally see that there are usecases of Hz modes matching 24fps and 25fps footage,
there is no sane usescase popping into my mind for 64Hz.
60Hz is great though since 30fps sort of became a new standard over time, meaning footage became more optimized for internet than TV.

At consumer level 24fps and 25fps may still exist as they offer better brightness in darker enviroments when recording eg. with smart phones compared to 30fps.

But considering the improvements of mobile recording I will only be a matter of time when 24 and 25 are history. Dealing with 30fps is a much easier value to be compatible with alomst any devices.

This is btw the only reason for 144z monitors (6x24) which has proven to be surpassed by now as 120 works just as good and even 240Hz models are out there. This also kind of previews the desire of getting a 30fps for videos in the future. Admitted I can not prove it scientificially but I seems obvious to me.

I doubt anyone requested 64 Hz.

I seem to remember people wanting lower refresh rates for performance reasons.

Maybe 60Hz didn’t work well on these panels but 64 did?
