Project Cars 2 - Pimax 5k/8k setup guide

No, he does it from the OC tool for his GPU.
SweViver is using the software provided with his EVGA cards : Precision X1, in his DCS video, but in the video I linked above where he is doing the same on Hellblade, with the most commonly used tool : Afterburner (which I’m also using myself).

It sound for me like a driver issue or his RTX with Mikron memory is daying…
Or OC profile was wrong configured , that’s why “deafult” setting give him significant boost.

On the DCS video, even when starting a mission with default settings (no oc), the problem is the same, he still have to force default again for the game to make full use of it’s GPU … And since some people he have raised the fact that neither their CPU not GPU were fully used or even close to (I didn’t check since I upgraded my rig, and was CPU bound before).

Could be the driver, or the rendering pipeline

I’m wonder how fps will behave when you uninstall gfx OC app.

From my side, I don’t see any difference in framerate with vsync on off or with the afterburner reset…

On the “Pimax Games Compatibility Spreadsheet” some have listed the optimal settings for some games in the comments column, but ideally, there should be an extra column or another sub-sheet for this.

I am just setting up project cars 2 for Bathurst day in Australia . Are you still using these settings for a 2080ti ? @Yata_PL

Last time in Pitool .180 I set 90 hz with smart smoothnes on and raised steam vr up to 60% + pitool 1.25. Game with SM looks quite crisp and noticed less ghosting than before but offcourse native 72 hz also looks good.

Do you think pitools 180 is the best ? I have the feeling to struggle to reach good visual quality with that one…

I just purchased project cars 2 and the car physics are very realistic compared to project cars 1 .

I´ve followed Yata_PL guide. And i think yall should know this… I´m running his settings on latest Pitool 254_Alpha and 120Hz “normal” view, and FPS is 115-120 ish!
Never had this game running soooo ultra smooth and sharp!

Pimax 5K+
Win10 64bit
I7 7700K
RTX 2080 TI OC @ ~2050Mhz and memory @ 7600Mhz
Nvidia Driver: 442.19
PiTool: 254_Alpha
Yata_PL Guide: Yes
PiTool SS: 1.25
Steam VR Render: 30 %
PiTool: 120Hz Mode at “Normal” view
Smart Smoothing: OFF
Fixed Fovated Rendering: OFF
Parallel Projections: ON
Hidden Area Mask: ON
In Game Shadows: Low (He had it OFF) and thats why im running Steam VR at 30% and not at 40%
Nvidia Setting and Ingame Setting: Prerendered VR-Pictures 4

I highly recommand Pimax 5K+ Players to try this at 120Hz Mode and Normal FOV. I´m happy now playing PC2 VR at sharp ~120fps

I played it again today, and was quite surprised to see how well it run.

Having “only” a RTX 2080 (but basically the same OC frequencies as your Ti), I couldn’t use the same presets, but still.

I play without PP since I imported and launched the game from PiTool, so I obviously don’t have access to Steam VR render coefficient, only PiTool SS and in-game supersampling. So I used 0.75 PiTool SS.
Sure it’s a little blurry, but frankly, I had to test it with PiTool SS 2.0 and in-game SS x2 to find it good in the distance (but catastrophic framerate) so I gave up on having a sharp image.

Usually, I target 90Hz with the reprojection fallback, but I tried to give disabling Smart Smoothing another chance, so I switch to 120Hz mode, and didn’t felt stuttering despite being mostly around 90Hz unless being alone on some “easy” part of the track (I always use Spa Francorchamps for quick races).

I also tried re-enabling FFR with its “conservative” setting, but it was still a mess, with very distracting fences that came right from PS1 era at the periphery of my vision.
Can’t wait to see the result if VRSS become compatible with pcars 2 as some point, to work the other way around (having a 0.5 image quality with boosted resolution at the center / where you eye are looking).
