Plan F Upgrade Price?

So just to be clear on this. It is an extra $179 USD to upgrade to the Index Controllers. I pledged an extra $210 for controllers during the kickstarter. So that is a total of $389 USD to buy Index controllers?

Convert this to Canadian dollars. 389 x 1.3 = $505 CAD approx

Why is it so much?

Insane right? And we don’t even know if it comes with Half Life Alyx ($60).

@reptilexcq I very much doubt it does. Alyx is linked directly to the account that purchased the controllers. I had my sister in-law buy me some from the US and bring them to Canada. I had to get the account off her that she purchased them with.

this is not only price for controller, but price for base station and controller.
if you think that a base station alone is around 120$, the additional price would cover the controllers only. I doubt you can buy an index controler for 90$ only. this is closer to 120$.
So, full kit for 2 controllers and 2 base stations is more around 500$.
so , yes the move is expensive and you did not get a good price with plan F if you add the 250$ from the kickstarter + the 180$ of plan F,and probably you would better purchase a full vive index for 999$, get the controllers and base stations and get a spare headset (+ some free games) and direct warranty form Vive.
The problem for the vive kit is it is not availble in all countries.
but if you want it now (or soon we can hop) , that is the price to pay for.
We can expect that the ecosystem around a VR headset will rapidly make the price of headset marginal. If you want base stations, controllers, trackers, hand tracking, eye tracking, wireless, threadmill, you will spend probably several thousands of dollars.

Kickstarter Pimax 8k: 499$
Kickstarter Pimax 8k fll bundle: 799$

Bundle Price = 300$
2 basestations = 150$
2 controllers cost = 150$

Now when we already paid 150$, we need to add additional 179$ = 329$, excluding shipping costs, excluding possible taxes.
As we know britain is out of EU, means EU warehouse is not available - we can easily expect customs coming (at least for eu customers), resulting into 400$+. Hows the shipping cost will be calculated is still a question, as pimax stated couple times that they dont really want to cover free shipping for splitting packages, through its completely their fault that the packages are split, things are undone and cant be shipped as a single package.

If you order controllers directly from valve, youll: (eu prices)

  1. pay 300 euro (330$) including shipping, expecting to receive it in 7 days (and not “sooooooon”)
  2. easy warranty through local (regional) warehouses, free exchange if defect.
  3. you wont feel cheated or unsafe with the whole procedure or warranty

And you may as well include:

  1. HL:Alyx

Plus two years warranty and much easier process to resolve the potential claims.

I didn’t back for base stations. So I don’t get base stations for the $179 upgrade. I already have a Vive so no need for them at this point. If I were getting base stations and controllers I wouldn’t be complaining at all.

I wish I had payed $150 for the controllers. My initial pledge was for $495 for the early bird 8k and shipping. The I upped my pledge to $705 as instructed by Pimax to get the controllers. So that is an extra $210 paid for the controllers + $179 upgrade price is $389 USD. That is $100 USD more than what valve sells them for. I didn’t back for base stations as I already had a Vive. I have also put in a support ticket 3 weeks ago asking for clarification from Pimax. I received a reply that was a link to the existing upgrade plans and have not heard anything back since, despite multiple attempts to get an answer.

This is why I’m here now. I’m selfishly hoping someone has already gone through this painful process and has an answer for me.

Yoiur 210 should be for both controller and basestations, complete package.

Hey if that were the case I would happily take at that price. Just on the train right now, but when I get to work I will screenshot relevant emails and post them here.

Alright here are the screenshots. So first is the initial Pledge
Initial%20Pledge

Second is the image of the price as advertised by Pimax

The next is when I changed my pledge to include the controllers.

Last is the survey showing only controllers.

Survey

My bad tought hole package was around that sum. Do it should not be any shipment cost from Pimax that we already payed for.

Shouldn’t but still very expensive for a pair of index controllers. If this is indeed the price, then I’m thinking I should just wait and get my money’s worth from Pimax.

We should be paying less than $100 to upgrade to Index controllers, not $178. Reason is we already pay $200 for two controllers. So if we pay $178, then total is $378 which is more than the official cost of Index.

Exactly.
20 20 20 20

And we can’t use the $100 cash of ours they already have, we have to pay shipping…again, we get no Valve warranty or support, no Half Life: Alyx, can’t realistically expect to see the controllers to mid 2020.
How anyone can still take this company seriously is beyond me.

This is what I plan on doing. I have a 5K+, 1 base station and now finally I have index controllers on order direct from Valve. This will temporarily complete my vr experience until the long wait to receive what we all paid for 2 years ago from Pimax including my already paid for basestations and “future” pimax controllers…whenever the heck that will be, but I don’t sweat that now that index controllers are on the way.

Yes it’s unfortunate. I never wanted it to come to this with Pimax. I want them to succeed, but at this point it seems like they spent our money and are trying to make more off us. I wouldn’t recommend anyone take this “deal”. Just spend the extra money and get them right from valve.

@Matthew.Xu can you please tell us why the plan f bundles still aren’t shipping ?

We are waiting for the delivery notice from the Valve. We will send the goods to the United States as soon as they are mentioned.
