I have the same issue, we seem to be in the minority. The ghosting is in all apps (coincidentally I also tried eleven, which I own in oculus store). 120Hz looks totally fine.
SN 203. I’ve had this issue since they introduced 144hz. I’ve only tried it on my one PC though, 144hz would be amazing but 120hz has me pretty satisfied tbh
for me it only creates problems. even the fix is not a hundred percent. now it is dark and dim again and as described above the 144hz mode me too ghosting. I do not understand why man brings out an update that does not work properly. I am back on pitool 253 fw 255 headset SN:203
and everything runs smoothly.
I downloaded and installed pitool version 259, but every time I try to launch it, it crashes and never runs, I had to revert to version v2020.3.24. Also, I never have the option of more than 82 Hz.
I bet, I’ll be perfectly content if they fix index controllers. 120Hz was not promised, and 144hz was definitely not promised when I got this thing. 120 has been a pleasant surprise, and makes gen1 vr garbage to me, shockingly. I’m sure I’d love the 8kx for sims and stuff, but I can’t go below 90 now.
The driver is “Beta”, which is a standard software term that indicates the software has only had limited testing. This version of PiTool was released in a hurry to fix some issues.
The real problem is that it has been far too long since the last non-beta release of PiTool.
I’m really loving 120hz at full normal fov. Don’t know if I can ever go back!
I’ll have to run the 8KX in upscaled mode for a lot of games. Unless there is a pleasant surprise coming RE the new Nvidia cards and an 8KX firmware update to support display port 2.0.
I understand that so far I haven’t had as many errors with any beta as with the 259, which is a pity. 258 was okay too, but for my system it works best with the 253, all very stable Fov normal 90hz.
ryzen 2700x
rtx 2080
pimax SN 203
When I ran version 259 for the first time the app would load the Pi logo but then crash to desktop. Turning off the headset before opening the app fixed it. Once the app loads correctly I turned the headset back on and it showed up in Pitool. This also enabled me to install FW update 264.
same here 8K+, the interface and trayicon just closes when starting the service keeps running @coconut i solved it. Just close all running pitool services and start Pitool again
i have to do this everytime i start my pc, and after that it says headset disconnected wich remains after rebooting the hmd @pimaxvr can you fix this?
There was no indication this was a beta from them though. There was an indication on Pitool that an update was available and so I updated. Nowhere in Pitool did it state it was a beta. I assumed it was a stable release. The forums weren’t of any help as no one on the forums even knew update 259 was a thing.
I tried headset firmware 255 (120hz mode) and pitool on 259 and it gets dark and dim again. It looks like it is up to the pitool. I try to update the headset to 264 and with pitool 253 or 258. will report it then.
unfortunately cannot download the headset firmware separately only in connection with the new pitool update.
Sounds great @Alex.liu
But will you update the version number as well, or will we receive the updated version either way if we do an online check from Pitool ?
I have the dimming issue with the new firmware.
Another Pitool release and still the same old crappy performance. I was hoping this version would fix the jitter / stutter i’ve been getting since .144 before my 8KX arrived but nope. Think i need to accept the fact it’s never going to be fixed and cancel my order rather than waste any more time going from version to version hoping to stumble on a good one
