Perhaps. Back when I upgraded to whichever PiTool version which lost the Background Brightness option, I noticed that my headset brightness increased significantly. I had previously set it to Low. I suspect that the brightness setting is lost when a firmware update is applied. (Note that reinstalling an older version of PiTool does NOT restore the firmware to an earlier version.)
I agree that Pimax needs to restore the Backlight Brightness option. I really miss it.
I would also prefer an option to change backlight level in the current PiTool. Sometimes I want it dimmer sometimes I want it brighter.
Anyways other than that I am really happy with the PT259/FW264 update. Just played Half Life Alyx for about 4 hours with no issues with tracking. Before when I would walk I would get the micro stutter and my character would stop for a second. Not anymore. Also the game looked amazing.and ran very smooth.
To me, itâs not worth the effort. I just want Pimax to restore the option, so I can set it as needed. (Darker for Elite Dangerous and Medium for everything else.)
Can anybody tell me if 64hz option is available in .259? 64hz check box was not showed in refresh rate options in pitools .258, since its check box turned the 144hz option after the firmware update (263).
Hello Rivas, no unfortunately no 64hz option has to be selected.
Itâs funny that everything is dark in 90hz and not in 120 or 144hz. Even after King Toddâs fix.
Just donât install it, and donât recommend it right now please.
5K+ SN204 headsets are only recognized by PiTool144 when they have been set to 90Hz before downgrading. They wonât be able to reset it back to normal brightness if that happens and you were on another refresh rate.
So just,⌠donât touch this 259 version. Loads of trouble
Settings I used to use in SteamVR are now needing to be doubled. Previously I would use PiTool 1.25 on Large FOV and 64Hz with SteamVR Video 50% and App 50%. Now the same setting is achieved with SteamVR Video 100% and App 100%.
I do seem to notice better image quality at same render target resolution. Meanwhile StemaVR Auto is telling me 136% but not so good for me spotting things in Il2.
This version doesnât work for me. After upgrading from an earlier version 1.0.1.258, PiTool doesnât start. I get the PiMax large icon in the center of the screen when I open it, then the icon disappears and nothing happens. The PiTool window doesnât come up. Going to the tool tray, the pitool icon disappears when I move the mouse to it.
PiMax headset SN203, if thatâs relevant.
Since the Alyx version of Pitool, render quality has been divided by 2, I need to set it to 2 to achieve to the same resolution than the 258 version (affect the oculus games too) on the 8k headset.
yup. im wondering if I should upgrade considering that the reason I downgraded to 253 was because 253 was the only version I could guarantee did not lose tracking randomly in HL Alyx.
I wonder if anyone can confirm that this driver is good
Personally, this is the best Pimax driver iâve used by a large margin. But mileage may definitely vary! Guess it depends how lucky you are feelingâŚ
I(and others) have been requesting this for a while, and I asked if there was something that was preventing this. The âpermanentâ low backlight issue just proves that this feature could be reimplemented.
