No we got our headsets at the price they set as incentive to back the project.
As pointed out KS not a store. Backed items including Stretch goals are rewards.
If no one backed or pimax met delivery dates for items there would be no debate. As the project would have failed by not meeting target $200,000 or all items delivered on time.
There would be nothing to trade/swap. Xunshu said backers would get a discount, not a trade off.
Some thing previous products bought determines how much you should pay. It does not.
Ok i think you need to look up the term discount in the english dictionary & understand it before continuing this argument any further.
Maybe this is just a language misunderstanding.
Facts are pimax told us they would offer a discount but presented us a trade.
Whether you or anyone here are happy with that or not is irrelivant.
Some are, some aren’t but it does not change the fact it is not actually a discount.
I know the definition. A simple google search of “definition discounted price” should help you out. The top search results from cambridge dictionary states: “a price that is lower than the usual price.” Seems to match up with what Pimax is offering us.
But it’s very common to use them as synonyms in business language. In fact, I think many discount is often a trade. for example when to get a discount you have to trade your personal data
Remember that we are not talking about official communications, but anticipations written in a forum message by a Pimax employee, and it could be inaccurate.
BTW since we are judging the words, it would be very helpful if someone could retrieve the exact message in which that promise was made
If you were to see this in business language, then you would see a * with small print.
Watch the pimax day streams with Kevin & sweviver talking.
Maybe if sweviver had been holding up a star sign when he mentioned discount for backers, with small print rolling across the bottom of the screen, we would have seen it coming.
I actually think this whole thing is yet another language misunderstanding from pimax in which a term was used incorrectly.
If you look up discount on google, when used as a verb, it means “deduct an amount from (the usual price of something)” We’re getting a discount on the price of the headset via a credit from forfeiting the stretch goals.
Which it isn’t reduced price since there asking you to move money you spent for items not delivered yet. A credit towards a new product.
A friend of mine paid for a new computer case; the store ordered but had problems getting it in. So offered that they could get him a different case but it costs $50 more. He bartered with them & they offered the case at a cost of $25 more instead.
At $50 more no discount with moving his prior deposit over. But when they offered same deal at $25. He received a $25 discount.
Some people from pimax had better called it an “offer”.
It’s really simple, if you like the offer take it, if you want to keep the stretchgoals leave it and wait till there will be sales with 10-15% discount wich will be there for sure in the future.
Yes i think this is yet again a language barrier problem.
I would imagine when pimax said they would offer a backer discount, most native english speakers would have rightfully understood this as ‘we are going to give you money off for being our kickstarter backers’
Its understandable that when that was not the case & it appeared to be a case of ‘you give us your stuff & well knock some money off’
People are saying ‘hang on, thats not how a discount works’
Even harder when Pimax Day 1 & 2 had english promoting discounts that only applied to non backers.
But just another lesson not to trust words. But does unfortunately create the appearance of why Xunshu & Dallas were deleted. With old posts disappearing(deleted)
But KS May 2018 update does have the Eyetracking pic update 39 i think.
Man i really want to like & trust pimax but they keep doing these things over & over again.
Say one thing, do something else.
They are their own worst enemy.
As far as im aware we will get standard version with the audio built in but projected down at your ears.
Built in audio was a stretch goal.
Im not sure if any confirmation has been given though.
The stretch goals clearly state, standard head strap upgraded
to headstrap with earphones. NOT with projecting speakers.
Its the only thing that made me back wright at the last minutes.
So I hope its not another thing Pimax are going back on
