Well, chances are high that PImax is locked into some sort of contract and they might still be required to purchase a predetermined number of BS (ie the total number of BS pledged during the KS).
The lighthouses will happen. The 2.0ās are ramping up at the partner on a similar scale typical for other new electronic devices. We are looking into supplemental options but our general feeling is LH tracking provides the best user experience.
No doubt over time new tech will come along that can provide similar experiences without some of the drawbacks optical inside-out tracking currently must deal with.
Even with lighthouses 1.0, 2.0, 3.5 or whatever the version number is, I would still like to have the inside-out tracking.
Iām forced to use the headset in two different rooms in my house⦠not hijacking this thread, will make a topic about that later.
The art of saying words without meaning lol man what does that even mean honest to god ever consider a career in politics ? This is quite the opposite of what you said yesterday tbh.
It is identical. I said not available in quantity plain and simple. Saying they are still ramping up also says not available in quantity. I Loved reading your analysis of the discussion - your reading between the lines as you put it required you do a lot of leaps in logic, somersaults and twists. Maybe politics is for you!
I agree. IO tracking adds some new use cases that are not easy with LH tech.
@PimaxUSA Did you take a look at TDKās Chirp tracking?
Also, your interview with VR Roundtable was amazing
Ultrasonic sounds good, hopefully it works well and doesnāt upset pets
Re inside out tracking vs Lighthouses, Iām a Lenovo WMR owner so I donāt have lighthouses to go with my 5k+, which should arrive some time in 2019
For seated games, the WMR camera tracking works great most of the time - very occasionally the cameras donāt seem to boot up / connect and only work after a full restart of all services including mixed reality app and SteamVR, but itās rare. The problem is for room scale, they are not quite reliable enough for the controllers once you move them to the sides or behind you etc.
Itās not a huge deal for me as I mostly play Elite, but I was thinking that ultimately, better tracking with lighthouses outweighs the convenience of head-mounted cameras. So it will be interesting if Pimax changes their plan for sure, but seems like the lighthouses will appear eventuallyā¦
It simply means the Ball has been in Valves court & Valve might thinking on throwing it back soon.
Ultra sonics was used by Nintendoās Powerglove & a part of one of the things in NoloVR.
I just quoted what he said and heās deleted it omg way to treat backers man
I just quoted your own words, why delete your own words ? Thatās not really instilling confidence tbh, I did back this you know.
and you are being a little bit of an a-hole.Being a backer doesnāt give you the right to be a little dickish. Heās just trying to help and you analyse every single world he post and twisted them into your own version of reality.
The reality is Pimax is a very small in the tech world. They donāt have the pull of other companies. They donāt have any influence over HTC and Vive. They will have to wait their turn as they are small fish in the seas. Thatās jut the reality
I didnāt twist anything, he literally said they canāt even source 1000 units I mean he can delete my post but he still said it.
When you are the bottom of the barrel, thatās what happen. Like Kevin OāLeary often says āThey are cockroachesā in the tech world.
Remember Valve used to charge something like $5000 for a seminar before you could use Steam Tracking. By allowing Tracking for free but forcing folks to buy LH modules from them to rebrand makes them a mint. But like Half Life 3; Valve had been dragging their feet. Think of HTC whom would want to sell LHes seperate for 6+ setups. Are crippled on the whole v2.0 benefits.
Now if Valve is seriously going to ramp up thatās good & at least removes some of the supply issues. But in reality until Valve removes the embargo to sell LH v2.0 seperately. Still quite the mess.
You are twisting my words in fundamental ways then mixing it with fictional speculation.
Because you are turning round hypothetical numbers used in a simple thought experiment into a pricing sheet. Even after I stated multiple times we are not yet offering any pricing or availability data on LHās. When we announce pricing you can take literally we will let you know.
The point is when any product is only being produced in small quantities by a vendor the price is higher and can potentially become outside of the intended price range UNTIL the volumes rise and the price falls. Saying a price of $800 would be unacceptable is like saying $50 for a big mac would be unacceptable. I did love seeing it spun into some fiction though.
I am really impressed with the IO tracking on my Odyssey+. As long as you have decent lighting in the room, it has worked flawlessly for me. Thatās simming without controllers, or using one controller for cockpit switches and dials only (straight in front). I know the controller tracking for other uses isnāt ideal.
I am not sure if or what did you edit in the OP, but I suggest, next time, simply write your clarification (as you did) and lock the thread (with an explanation, why you did it).
